This was an 8 hour story in a 14 hour wrapper. A smart doctor gets shot then runs around being stupid until the final hour of the book when he gets smart again.

Good story. Wrong narrator.

Solid first installment of new series. I usually like Joe Barrett as a narrator. However, in this case, he did a poor job with “Fargo” and Mexican accents as well as voices for young women and children. Listening was painful so I used 1.5 speed to get through the story quickly.

One Second After is one of my favorite books and I am a big fan of Bronson Pinchot as a narrator. However, both the story and the narrator are really disappointing in the sequel, One Year After.

What did you love best about The Winds of War?
This was a book I read as a young adult in the 70's. Listening to the book again after 40 years was like getting back in touch with a long lost friend.
What did you like best about this story?
Historical fiction with great characters.
What three words best describe Kevin Pariseau’s performance?
Not good enough.The narration was OK, but there are so many narrators that are better than OK. I very seldom get bored with narration, but I did in this case.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
