Historia
A life spent honing his skills and serving his country hasn’t turned out exactly how Nathaniel Abrams planned, but it’s attracted the attention of the Tower. Ascending to its peak is meant to give anyone whatever they wish for, but all Nate cares about is finding some way to use the skills that seem so useless in civilian life. And if he can prevent a magical wish being given to some maniac (because the Tower seems to love welcoming maniacs through its doors), then that’ll be a bonus. Besides, Nate has an edge.

Lack of gun knowledge in a gun centered story.
Revisado: 11-21-24
The author gave us such gems as, "Cock the hammer back on the Glock," and "Switch the Glock to three round burst mode." Also, it gets a little confusing at times, but I think the author is using Glock and M1911 interchangeably.
The MC killed people. He can tell when others have killed people, because he's killed people. Mc has nightmares about his fallen comrades, and all the people he's killed. The MC is used to killing people, because he did kill people. Hey, were you aware that the MC killed people?
If you can look past the lack of gun knowledge, and the gimdark edgelord stuff, it's a decent story. However, it absolutely is not deserving of it's 4.7(at time of review) rating that it has.

When monsters appear on Earth and begin destroying the fabric holding together humanity, that thought is thrown out the window: everything is getting worse, and fast. 'Is my world becoming an MMRPG Apocalypse?' Can Mike make good on his prior experience and carve a foothold for himself as a Necromancer in this RPG world?

Mediocre at the best of times, stupid at the worst
Revisado: 05-15-24
Author seems to think that guns cause people to turn evil, except the MC. Only the MC can be trusted with a tool that would help people survive in an apocalypse.
Every male character is a bland, thoughtless follower unless he thinks he needs to inject some drama in the story, and suddenly even friendly characters become violent, sociopathic rapists.
MC must be in control at all times, and makes promises to people to get them to fall in line. He then breaks those promises and expects people to still follow him.
I get the feeling that the author has mild narcissistic tendencies, and likes to write himself into his stories as a power fantasy, where the MC is smarter than everyone because no one thinks for themselves unless they're evil, and MC always triumphs.

Historia
In pursuit of his abusive father’s approval, Zeke Blackwood pushed himself to the very pinnacle of his chosen obsession. Since childhood, all he’d ever wanted to do was play baseball, and through hard work, discipline, and no small degree of talent, his goal of reaching the major leagues was finally in sight. But then a horrific car accident ruined his arm, eliminating any hope of a professional baseball career. Consumed by depression, Zeke gave up on his future, preferring to wallow in self-pity. That is, until an opportunity came along for him to prove his worth.

Daddy Issues
Revisado: 04-29-24
The author seems to have daddy issues. I would not be surprised if you told me that 25% of this story was taken up with the various forms of abuse the MC's father heaped on him. Another 25% is talking about baseball. That last 50%? That makes the book worth buying. The story is good enough. If the author had toned back some of the introspection on abusive, alcoholic authority figures, the story could have been great. I'll still be buying the second, and probably third books.

Overall, still one of my favorite series.
Revisado: 12-26-23
While it's still a very good series, I am getting tired of the author halting the storyline to go on long winded liberal rants with a tone like the listener is the bad guy because he feels the need to lecture us. it started off with one in a previous book, and has progressed to what I think was five in this book. including one where he just stopped writing the active fight they were in to rant at us about bodily autonomy.
The narrator does an excellent job.

Went from good to mediocre.
Revisado: 07-29-22
I enjoyed the story for the first 3/4, but unfortunately the need for the author to virtue signal just breaks me out of my immersion. It's almost like the author felt he needed to flesh out the book, and threw in some unnecessary and unlikely drama based on current day SJW hot topics that would immediately become irrelevant in a true apocalypse situation.
There's nothing wrong with the narration, but there's nothing good either. It's just mediocre.

Sadly disappointing.
Revisado: 07-29-22
I really enjoyed the first two books. Unfortunately, you can tell from this one that the author is pretty young. He has issues with authority figures, and you can tell that he thinks to himself, "When I'm the boss, I'm going to do things differently." He also goes on some pointless SJW virtue signal rants that kind of ruin the flow of the story. Also, every single woman in this book is a jealous, abusive, creature that can't see that there are more important things to worry about, and most of them men are dumb, pushovers.
The narrator sounds like he's talking into a large empty jar with with the microphone inside it. Lots of echoing.
Overall, the book is worth listening to if you enjoyed the first two, but don't make it a priority.

Historia
Alvin woke in a room that was not his, to discover that he had died and his brain had been bargained off cheaply to pay off someone else’s debt. It did not sit well with him. It didn’t surprise him that even in death, people were still using him for their own purposes. He had never exactly been a good guy, but everyone had their breaking point, and he had found his. The bastards in charge had uploaded his mind into a virtual death game. The whole world could now pay to see him play it and probably die. Regardless, he was not about to wait for death to come for him.

Starts off strong. Finishes kind of weak.
Revisado: 08-10-19
In the beginning the story is very good and quite enthralling. Strong world building and character development, though far from the best I've seen. By the end it turns into angsty wish fulfillment for the author.
I would wager that the love interest of the main character is based off a real person that doesn't know she's been written into a book, and quite explicitly too. Honestly, I was surprised that the narrator was able to keep a professional tone with some of the scenes, which is why I rated her so highly.
I say that the book is worth getting, but if you're agonizing over choosing this book or another, get the other book first.
I have to admit that the scene in the car was seriously hot though.
