Would you listen to Cinder again? Why?

Yes in a few years when I forget the story!!! Cinder was freaking awesome!

What other book might you compare Cinder to and why?

Cinder reminds me of Across the Universe by Beth Revis.... They both are set in the future n bring this sci-fi element to the story without it being too much. They r both very well done. Even a person like me that doesn't like sci-fi all that much can enjoy the story without feeling overwhelmed with the futuristic aspects of the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, this book kept popping in my head every time I was away from it.

<3 my Goodreads* book review <3

To think that I almost ignored this book because to me it was just another over hyped book. A Cinderella retelling could not possibly be as good as pretty much EVERYBODY, that reads it, says it is. I thought... A cyborg-mechanic girl, who lives in a new version of Beijing, has an evil stepmother, two step sisters, round everything with some pretty shady people from the Moon with powers and a deadly virus that is killing humans n cyborgs.... How can that be any good??? HA HA! Little did I know... I was wrong!
After reading Across the Universe (another sci-fi book I was hesitant about. What can I say? I am a little afraid of the sci-fi genre) earlier this year and loving it. I decided I was going to give Cinder a try. I guess I don't have to say that I am glad I did, right? But I will... I am sooooo freaking happy I gave this book a try. Cinder is one of my top reads this year and maybe top reads of all time!! I was not ready for how AWESOME this book was.
Cinder was amazing. I really sympathized with her. Though she had many problems, like the way the humans, but specially her stepmother, treated her (to name one.), Cinder didn't seem like a "Debby Downer" character, she just woke up each day and did what she had to do to survive n maintain her so called family. I also loved her struggle with the Prince, she doesn't want to fall for him like all the other girls in the kingdom, at the same time she can't help it. Honestly?! Who could? Talking about the Prince... Kai was very good looking, by the way Cinder describes him, and he was very mature. Kai knows that he has some hard decisions to make, but to me he didn't seem afraid of facing them. I felt like I was reading about a man and not a little boy. And then there was Iko, Cinders little robot, at least I think she was little. Iko's personality n the way she brought out a softer side of Cinder made her a fun character. Im still not sure what is going to happen to her but I am hoping for an Iko comeback at some point!
Besides loving the characters, the plot took me by surprise. To me there was a perfect dosage of action, romance, evil plots, politics and mystery. It never became too much to understand. Meyer does a great job in explaining her world from the Lunar people with their "today the earth - tomorrow the universe" ways to the hidden secrets of who Cinder really is. I never felt lost or confused, even though there was about a million things going on. I loved the parts that I could find the connection between Cinder and the original Cinderella version and I also loved the parts that made this book unique and different from the original Cinderella. I couldn't pick one favorite moment. This book was filled with them. The one negative thing I have to say about Cinder is that after I finished this book, I got into a horrible reading slump because I was feeling like there was no book that was going to be as good. LOL! I would love to be able to write more about my feelings about Cinder but that would be given too much away! I am sad that the next book isn't mainly about Cinder but I am very excited to see what Marissa Meyer has in store for us!

Cinder gets a 10 out of 5 from me! <3

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Nothing wrong with the narrator. This story was not for me. Meghan, the main character, would often change her track of thought. She would be in the middle of describing what she was seeing n than jump to thinking about how her life was n how boring she is. I can't describe it.... The story felt choppy, like the author was too excited about showing the readers an amazing world n stumbled all over her words. Needless to say, most of the time, I was freaking confused. Anyways.... I think this would have made a much better movie than a book. It also felt, at times, a little juvenile.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Cinder by Marissa Meyer .... Something totally different from this.

Which character – as performed by Khristine Hvam – was your favorite?

Grim. He was the only character I liked. I only liked him because, to me, he was copied straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Grim was exactly like the Cheshire Cat.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was disappointed. I had high expectations for this book. At the end it was just an ordinary story.

If you could sum up Born at Midnight in three words, what would they be?

1. Fun
2. Light
3 Mysterious
Great summer read not too intense. Like a chick-lit with a twist.... Well more than 1 twist!!!

What other book might you compare Born at Midnight to and why?

I never read Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins (I believe) but lots of reviews I read before reading Born at Midnight would compare both books.

Have you listened to any of Katie Schorr’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have not. But I enjoyed her.
Though I thought her voice sounded just a little older that Kylie, the main character, but that only bothered me a little.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I did!! I set the speed on 1.5 so it goes a little faster n went to clean my house.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wither?

The most memorable moment to me was the first few pages.... They grabbed me right into the story.

Which character – as performed by Angela Lin – was your favorite?

I think Cecily was my favorite character. Angela Lin really made her sound like the kinda person she was.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes...., I almost did. It was actually 2 sittings on the 1.5 speed. I just needed to find out more and fast. And what can I say? I do loooove the speed option and am kind of addicted to it. LoL

Any additional comments?

Linden was just a wuss to me. I really did not like him.

Any additional comments?

Rose.... Oh Rose! I never related to a character so much. I've been taking my time with this book... With this series. It just can't end. Ahhhhhhhhh!!! What can I say? I just don't want it to end. Yeah, yeah this was a slower book than the normal action packed madness of the other books, but that change was nice. I got to fall in love with Adrian a little more n I think his a great guy and a sweet boyfriend. In this book he puts up with a lot of Rose's crap and its kinda sad when she just brushes him off, when he does everything right, but u know as girls n sometimes wanting what we can't have. Dimitri is precisely that person. The more he tells her no.... The more she wants him. That almost makes me feel like Rose is a real person. Yes Adrian, in my opinion, would be a better boyfriend but u can't decide who u love. Her heart belongs to Dimitri, and this book made me c that, before Spirit Bound I was still on the fence just like Rose.
Another thing I enjoyed was Lisa and Christian. I dont really care for Lisa. she is kinda blend to me, specially compared to Rose, her n Christian together, or should I say apart?....... Their romance..., together or not, the way they tried not to care for one another but couldn't, their i hate u but I still secretly love u ways, it all felt real. I also love Christian, to me, his sort of the male version of Rose. And it's easy to see y Lisa fell for him, with Rose being more than her BFF.
Like everybody says..... "This series only gets better and better!"

Where does Starcrossed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I haven't heard that many audiobooks yet, but I thought this one overall pretty good.

What did you like best about this story?

The best thing about this story is definetly the ROMANCE!!! I really could feel their sexual tension. Some great stuff!!!!

Have you listened to any of Devon Sorvari’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never heard anything from her before.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought some parts were funny n the couple were very romantic. But no crying. LOL

Any additional comments?

I thought this book was very similar to Fallen by Lauren Kate. So if u like romance with some story line this is the book for u.
