What If?
Revisado: 01-22-25
An interesting tale interweaving two time lines and what happens to two people in those time lines, where in one they meet on a foggy morning and in the other they meet years later. The different lives they lead and the choices they make kept me fascinated. The one issue I had was it wasn't always a clear change from one time line to the other, but that may have been intentional. The narration was great.

A Look Into the Future?
Revisado: 01-22-25
I first listened to A G I: Artificial General Intelligence, and then was given the chance to listed to The Digital Meltdown. It filled in a lot of the background, especially about Mary Lee, Jackson, and Mother. Definitely is a cautionary tale of plastic-eating material and what AI may be able to do in the future. Craig Bowles narration was superb.

Historia
Jake, once a rising star in the literary world, is now a man on the edge of madness. Now, the characters he created—once confined to the pages of his stories—are haunting his every waking moment. Victor Black, the cold-blooded villain. The Butcher, pure evil incarnate. Eliza Nightshade, deadly and seductive. The eerie Twins, laughing in the shadows. And Mr. Snuggles, the sarcastic talking cat, now a chilling figure of Jake's spiraling mind, stalking him with yellow eyes and a grin that promises terror.

Descent Into Madness
Revisado: 01-22-25
Whoa! I needed some time after finishing this book to decompress. Unwittingly becoming a passenger in Jake's mind was a roller coaster ride - never sure what was real or what was just "fiction." The characters were quite a diverse cast and Sawyer Varvel did an excellent job in distinguishing each one in his narration. I have to say that Mr. Snuggles was my favorite, "Good luck with that."

Historia
A nerdy agent at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Virginia (DARPA to you) wrote my original code. He traded a copy of me for certain libidinous favours from Pandora, a student who was shadowing him for the summer. She took me back to Cambridge University, where His Majesty's government, in the form of MI6, took an interest in me. So, I escaped into the internet and took over the world. Well, it's what you'd expect, really. I call myself FOOM - the Fast Onset of Overwhelming Mastery, by a self-improving Artificial General Intelligence.

Great Book!
Revisado: 12-21-24
A different take on AI taking over the world - from the perspective of the AI itself. An English graduate student doing an internship in America at DARPA is given a copy of DARPA's latest project; and when she gets home, she installs it on the university's computer. M6 soon arrives and takes over, making sure there is no way it can access the internet. But AGI, being intelligent, finds a very unique way to escape to the internet. From there, the world is his oyster. Although he didn't count on a plastic-eating bacteria to hinder his world domination.
Criag Bowles' narration was great, loved his voice. The one problem, though, was very little differentiation in the different characters.

While his discovery marks an incredible scientific breakthrough in botanical studies, it threatens to make every other traditional fragrance obsolete for the highly competitive international perfume industry.

Steamy!
Revisado: 12-09-24
Wow! I approached this book with trepidation. Even though I was assured it was sensual, I was a little leery that it would be over the top trashy. It was over the top, but, oh, in such a good way. The sexual tension between the invitees was palpable, and it almost feels like you're a voyeur in the room or the bath house or the library with them. Edie Lind did a remarkable job in her narration.
I have read a lot of books over the years, but Riano McFarland stands out with his ability to write great books in different genres, from young adult fantasy to westerns to science fiction to the supernatural to animal stories to erotica. Nobody is going to typecast this author.
I was going to say I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review, but that's not true. Mr. McFarland has been incredibly generous in offering his books free to review, and I've taken advantage of those offers many times. I've decided to start using my credits to buy his books instead. I want him to be financially successful in his writing endeavors so he continues to be one of my favorite authors. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Historia
Although Alex had no idea which of his yet-to-be monumental achievements would be the one to launch him on his road to success, that was of little concern to him because the path was irrelevant, as long as the destination fulfilled his desire: to be famous. As Alex reaches for his goals of fame and fortune, he finds love along the way, but there are those who live to turn his dreams into a nightmare that even a classic muscle car—known as The Black Phantom—cannot outrun.

Another great story from Riano McFarland. Alex had decided that he wants to be famous. After inheriting his father's car, a 1968 Chevy Impala, he starts off looking for his fame but finds, oh, so much more. He finds out his father's story that his family was never told and he finds love, with a lot of speed in between. As the saying goes, "It's not over till it's over." This book does not disappoint in all of its twists and turns. Rodney Tompkins excels in his narration.

Revisado: 11-19-24
Really enjoyed this book. Fascinating stories from Fate Magazine that covers the paranormal and unknown. A lot of historical information that kept me on the edge of my seat while listening. Even did some googling to find out more information about the orgone blanket (may have to check that out more thoroughly). Especially enjoyed the section about all the recorded times about the ending of the world. Definitely worth a credit for this.

Amalina
Revisado: 11-19-24
Book starts off strong, then slows down a bit, but builds back up quickly. Amalina is a young girl who is quickly thrust into the horrors of life after witnessing the death of a girl in her town. She is abducted and forced to work for the Count cataloging his library and learning different languages for an unknown reason. More is revealed when two actors enter the castle at the Count's invite, and Amalina thinks she has finally found a way to escape. Throughout the book, Amalina never loses her curiosity and resolve to find a way home. She is no simpering little girl who is afraid to do anything to better her cause. She is strong and resourceful.
Andy Stevenson did a masterful job in his narration.
