Love love loved this. Audiobook is great too. It was a fun, quick adventure. Once you catch on to the style, it's like being the sh*t end of a tandem bike: you just sit back and enjoy the effortless ride. The atmosphere of the airport is so vivid, it makes you want to wash your hands. Read this!

I loved the simplicity of the dialog and relationship between The Man and his son while surrounded by endless danger and uncertainty. This book is all about the characters and how they relate to each other and to their world. I love character-driven stories.

This Book Is For Anyone Who Has Ever Loved Anyone

Okay. So I finally carved out the emotional time to ingest this in one feast. This book broke my heart and then pieced it back together again. There aren't many books that come through your life that can make you quietly cry for hours and yet, somehow, laugh outloud. This is one of those rare breeds. Completely void of any puffery or disingenuous musings, Adam's prose is startlingly beautiful at times and always unflinching. Read this book. Better yet, listen to it read by the author. This book is a privilege to experience. I will never forget it. Thank you Adam.

Oliver Wyman's performance

Please excuse me while I fangirl over my favorite voice artist. I promise to get to the book. If you haven't heard a book performed by Oliver Wyman, stop your life and pick any book he's read that interests you (A Little Life is an amazzzzing performance but an emotionally difficult book). I promise you whatever book you listen to will be elevated by his performance. His voices and ability to get you to FEEL and get lost in the story is unparalleled. Plus there is something about his voice that makes it easy to fall asleep to (in a good way) if you're into being read to sleep like a toddler, as I am.

Okay, now for the book. I liked it. It could get a little slow here and there. But it kept my attention and taught me a bit about a culture and time in history I don't know much about. I would recommend this. Check it out and see what you think.
