Great advice. It's Really True
Revisado: 06-05-08
I have been living what Mr. Ferris has been talking about for years. I was comforted to know I was not alone. He formalizes the approach I found by accident. I've met many others who live life by the same rules. Most of us will not meet these people because they're off enjoying their life.
Many people made negative comments about the audiobook, but I think it's fine.

Historia
Happiness is your birthright and it is readily available at any given moment, teaches Pema Chodron. So, why do we live in such suffering? "The potential for happiness is not based on outer things; they come and go, causing us misery," she begins. "We're always chasing after something, trying to avoid the difficult places. But there are a lot of small sweetnesses that we ignore because they're so fleeting."

Insightful, but less exciting
Revisado: 10-18-06
This book was useful for me, however I did find it difficult to listen to because Pema Chodron's tone of voice is a bit calm and has less intonations making it hard for me to stay engaged. For the book to be useful I think it is best to have a solid basic understanding and personal practice in Buddhism. The intedended audience is people who want to follow the buddhist path. The books is also relatively short for the price. It seems that the book is really not a book but 2 one-hour lectures isolated from the middle of a lecture series (she makes references to lectures both before and after).

Historia
A smart and funny book by a prominent Harvard psychologist, which uses groundbreaking research and (often hilarious) anecdotes to show us why we’re so lousy at predicting what will make us happy–and what we can do about it. Most of us spend our lives steering ourselves toward the best of all possible futures, only to find that tomorrow rarely turns out as we had expected. Why? As Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert explains, when people try to imagine what the future will hold, they make some basic and consistent mistakes.

Not what you expect but insightful
Revisado: 10-18-06
I had trouble rating this because the quality depends upon your goals. This book will not help you to be happy but helps you understand many of the psychological aspects of happiness. It is more of an intellectual read, in a light hearted positive manner, about the subject of happiness from a university level psychology professor. It's practicality is to me somewhat limited, but overall useful in broadening my mind on the subject. I found it interesting and engaging.

Wholistic View on Happiness
Revisado: 10-18-06
This book is excellent on giving a good practical overview on being happy. In many respects it is exactly the self-help book you expect to read on being helping. The narrator is very positive, and the book covers topics from love, to perception of life, to relationships, to health, to career, and spirituality rather than focusing on any specific (as most happiness related books do). I am still unhappy personnaly at present, but this book helped me get closer to the goal.
