Historia
Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta has just returned from working one of the worst mass murders in U.S. history when she’s awakened at an early hour by Detective Pete Marino. A body, oddly draped in an unusual cloth, has just been discovered inside the sheltered gates of MIT and it’s suspected the identity is that of missing computer engineer Gail Shipton, last seen the night before at a trendy Cambridge bar. It appears she’s been murdered, mere weeks before the trial of her $100 million lawsuit against her former financial managers.

Boring
Revisado: 08-27-24
I normally like Cornwell as a quick listen or read. They're never anything I can't wait to share but are entertaining. This book was so boring that I had to rewind over and over again. I couldn't remember where I had left off and found my mind wandering a lot. The Book was rambling until the end when it was wrapped up in a very fast, unsatisfactory way. It all left me with the feeling of WTF!

Iceland, 1956. Fourteen-year-old Lára decides to spend the summer working for a couple on the small island of Videy, just off the coast of Reykjavík. In early August, the girl disappears without a trace. Time passes, and the mystery becomes Iceland‘s most infamous unsolved case. What happened to the young girl? Is she still alive? Did she leave the island, or did something happen to her there? Thirty years later, as the city of Reykjavík celebrates its 200th anniversary, journalist Valur Robertsson begins his own investigation into Lára's case.

The monotony!!
Revisado: 07-24-24
I've read several books from this author and can say I enjoyed them. The bulk of this book had nothing to do with the plot. Maybe you can try to say it was character development but it's just not! The actual story underneath all the nonsense has great promise. It's frustrating that it was never told.

Historia
When human bones are found beneath an old chapel in the woods, evidence suggests the remains could be linked to the decades-old case of missing teen Annalise Jansen. Homicide detective Jane Munro—pregnant and acutely attuned to the preciousness of life—hopes the grim discovery will finally bring closure to the girl’s family. But for a group of Annalise’s old friends, once dubbed the Shoreview Six by the media, it threatens to expose a terrible pledge made on an autumn night forty-seven years ago.

Not a fan
Revisado: 07-19-24
This book is shallow. I didn’t find myself invested in any of the characters. I had to go back several times because I couldn't remember who each character was and what they had to do with the story. I wouldn't waste your money on it.

Historia
Little Emily Steiner left a church meeting late one afternoon and strolled toward home along a lakeside path; a week later, her nude body was discovered, bound in blaze-orange duct tape. Called by the North Carolina authorities, forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta recognizes similarities to the gruesome work of a serial killer who has long eluded the FBI. But as she tries to make sense of the evidence, she is left with questions that lead her to the Body Farm, a little known research facility in Tennessee where, with the help of some grisly experiments, she might discover the answer.

It had promise
Revisado: 03-30-24
I keep giving Patricia Cornwall try after try. Don't get me wrong they're not bad. They're good for something quick and easy. I thought this started off fairly good but it turned monotonous. Their happens to be many famous authors who are decent writers. where I find it hard is every book may have different characters the stories all seem the same. Patricia Cornwall is one of these writers. I think she'll be one that I can read once or twice a year just for the hell of it.
Please don't think this is in anyway a review to put you off of her books. Many people have favorite authors and can read one after another. They're not DNF reads, I've finished each one I've read and do not regret them. Give her books a try she may be a favorite to you.

Historia
In 1985, two 27-year-old friends left their suburban Detroit homes for a hunting trip in rural Michigan. When they did not return, their families and police suspected foul play. For 18 years, no one could prove a thing. Then, a relentless investigator got a witness to talk, and a horrifying story emerged. In 2003, this bizarre case hit the glare of the criminal justice system, as prosecutors charged two brothers, Raymond and Donald Duvall, with murder.

Finally!
Revisado: 03-25-24
I had heard good things about this author but I was highly disappointed after the first 2 books I read. The books I have read were free with my subscription so I kept trying. This book was my third round of giving it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that it was good. It doesn't prattle on about nonsense. The author didn't try to make it into an awful dialog and thoughts from the people that he couldn't possibly know. He finally wrote a True Crime book that is definitely worth a read.

Immature characters
Revisado: 01-30-24
this book has potential but it definitely doesn't achieve that potential. Very slow and all over the place. There's something about this narrator that makes me annoyed. I think this book was boring and characters were from a terrible YA book. I say don't waste your time and definitely don't waste your money.

Historia
Homicide detective Frank Bennett has a new partner - dark, beautiful, coldly efficient Eden Archer. Frank doesn’t know what to make of her, or her brother Eric, who’s also on the police force. Their methods are... unusual. But when a graveyard full of large steel toolboxes filled with body parts is found at the bottom of Sydney harbor, unusual is the least of their worries. For Eden and Eric, the case holds chilling links to a scarred childhood - and the murderer who raised them. For Frank, each clue brings him closer to something he’s not sure he wants to face.

Historia
It has been almost a decade since Duluth said good-bye to its innocence. The city creeps ever closer to the 10th anniversary of the year in which it found itself both gripped by murder and united in terror and during which the pillar of its community, DS Jonathan Stride, had his home and heart torn to ribbons by the claws of cancer. Cat Mateo, an orphan with a knack for landing on her feet, has bid farewell to a life on the streets. This once-stray teenager owes her rescue to Detective Stride, the father figure she holds close to her heart.

Revisado: 06-18-23
The narrator does a good job but is not one of my favorites. The story is good and tends to a good palette cleaner in between more in-depth literature. It's definitely worth reading.
