Historia
Gage Chandler is descended from kings. That’s what his mother always told him. Years later, he is a true crime writer, with one grisly success—and a movie adaptation—to his name, along with a series of subsequent less notable efforts. But now he is being offered the chance for the big break: to move into the house where a pair of briefly notorious murders occurred, apparently the work of disaffected teens during the Satanic Panic of the 1980s.

Hard to Follow
Revisado: 06-20-22
Ugh. I WANTED to like this book. Growing up in the 80's and recalling "Satanic Panic" quite vividly, it seemed right up my alley. The main story line was... ok, but predictable. Then there's a rogue story line that was absolutely captivating and brilliantly descriptive. Then we move on to the back story of the main story. Okayyyyy... and then, out of nowhere, we're in an old english dialect and honestly? I was just over it at that point. I kept finding my mind drifting off and then I'd have to rewind and I was just getting frustrated. Probably not fair to write a review on a book I didn't even finish, but it's rare for me to NOT finish a book. So I think that tells you my opinion.

Loved it!!! The inclusions of the forecoming pandemic were a bit bizarre, and felt those could've been left out, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure!

Historia
The dramatic story of the explosive 1894 clash of industry, labor, and government that shook the nation and marked a turning point for America. The Edge of Anarchy offers a vivid account of the greatest uprising of working people in American history. At the pinnacle of the Gilded Age, a boycott of Pullman sleeping cars by hundreds of thousands of railroad employees brought commerce to a standstill across much of the country. Famine threatened, riots broke out along the rail lines. Soon the US Army was on the march and gunfire rang from the streets of major cities.

Mostly good...
Revisado: 09-24-20
A little tedious here and there. Felt that the author got a bit TOO descriptive with some things. Made it hard for me to stay engaged when I'm listening to a ten minute description of a cliff wall.

Not meant for Audible
Revisado: 05-27-19
This was a rough one to get through. The topic itself, while interesting, isn't exactly riveting. As far as the recording goes, the quality is good, but this book was never meant for Audible. There is a lot of discussion about probability and with that comes mathematical equations. Have you ever listened to someone try to explain a mathematical equation to you without a visual aid? It's real easy for the mind to start drifting. And there's one section of the book, I can't remember what the topic is, but the narrator says the numbers six zero like 30 times in a row. Even my 15y/o, who doesn't pay attention to anything ever, was completely annoyed. This is a decent enough book, if you're into this kind of thing, but it's one to skip on Audible. Do yourself a favor and seek out the paper version.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

The narration though...
Revisado: 04-13-19
Loved the book. The storyline was different, I liked the social implications and the arc. But hooooooo... John Waters... We gotta talk.
There was no differentiation between character voices. It makes it REALLY hard to figure out who's talking and it makes "the scene" pretty confusing. Even a slightly different pitch or cadence would've helped immensely... but no.
Honestly, I feel like I need to reread the paper version.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Seriously Misrepresented
Revisado: 02-22-19
This book should have been titled "My Crisis of Faith as a Serial Killer's Daughter." I purchased this book because I love true crime. There were moments in this book that satiated that desire to know more about the crimes and the man who committed them, and those moments were juuuuuuust enough to keep me reading, but WOW. I am not a religious person and finishing this book was no easy task. I lost count of how many times I told myself, "One more Bible verse and I'm quitting." If you are looking for a down n' dirty, detail oriented, true crime book... Pass this one up. If you're looking for a testimony, here ya go.
