Two-hundred years after the world ends, their future begins. In 2157, a mysterious gas known as Variant spreads across the globe, killing or mutating most organic life. The surviving humans take refuge in an underground city, determined to return home. But after generations of failures and botched attempts, hope is beginning to dwindle. Suddenly, there's reason to hope again, and it rests within a group of genetically engineered children that are both human and Variant.

Amazing unbelievable great story
Revisado: 11-05-22
This is one of the best stories I have heard cents I have the gun reading sci-fi. JN Cheney is amazing the narration is lacking somewhat but it is still a great story.

Great Idea for a story but not implemented perfect
Revisado: 08-05-21
RC Bray is amazing and makes this novel. The story line was a great idea but the outcome was a little too predictable. There are some surprises towards the end but the end result is easily foretold after the first five chapters.
There is promise in this upcoming series and maybe this book just wanted to establish the world and characters, which Smith expertly delivers btw.
Worth the read but not similar to Hell Divers and is more of a futuristic view of military, which Smith doesn't usually delve into in his books. It seems like he is challenging himself and I look forward to what comes next.

Historia
When people think of the Holocaust, they think of Auschwitz, of Dachau; and when they think of justice for this terrible chapter in history, they think of Nuremberg. Not of Russia or the Ukraine, and certainly not a town called Kharkov. But in reality, the first war-crimes trial against the Nazis was in this idyllic, peaceful Ukrainian city, which is fitting, because it is also where the Holocaust actually began.

great topic, but made it a little too personal
Revisado: 03-08-21
I finished the book but the author needed less facts about him and more about the trials. At least 2 to 3 hours could have been shaved off this book.

Amazingly Done! New Galaxy Edge in the making!
Revisado: 10-05-20
A great book with likable characters who are narrated by the one and only R.C. Bray. I knew after the second or third chapter that is was going to be good. Good story modeling and character development. Brody the android is awesome and Bray really uses his voice to make him hilarious. A classic science fiction thriller that includes the passage of time, the world's oldest profession, and Anspach military talk. I hope this becomes a series! Make it happen Anspach, the world of Ahmir has plenty left to write about!

best of the savage war series so far. I would really like to see a book about the time tyrus, Sulla and Rheina spent on the savage hulk and how they got their ability to live so long. keep it up guys this series is looking more and more like it might be better than the original GE series 😉

Historia
It's been over a century since the humans lost the war for Earth. Cities have been reclaimed by nature, and the planet is quiet and empty by day. At night, feral vampires - more beast than man - roam the lands, hungry for blood. The few thousand surviving humans live on a massive airship that circles the Earth, moving with the rotation of the planet so it's always in sunlight.

AMAZING Mixture of "Hell Divers" and "Underworld"
Revisado: 02-23-20
I loved these two books and I'm praying that Audible releases the rest of the series.
The narration was good, Therese Plummer was a great voice for Alex although it was a little weird hearing her voices for the men you get used to it fairly quickly.
It's an awesome plot and I'm amazed at the authors' ability to come up with such an idea. The feral's ability to come back to human form was great and made the story so much more interesting when it comes to the moral and ethical episodes of the story. Speaking of morality the politics are not boring like in most books,
Fleming plays a very believable villain and C.B. and Alex are amazing heroes. Everybody rate this book FIVE STARS as we need to get the rest transferred to audio!!!

Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society's mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

AMAZING! But there is too MUCH FRUSTRATION LOL
Revisado: 01-10-20
This story and trilogy is outstanding but this third book is really frustrating. How many times can Darrow make the same mistake and get caught by allowing himself into the situation? I care so much for the characters and tbh I would become completely enraged when Darrow would get caught or do something stupid in a situation and allow his friends to die or be enslaved. It frustrated me because when the book was good and things were going in the Reapers favor something always falls down and kills his momentum. I still love the series to death but damn my emotions go wild and this book in the trilogy is especially DARK!
