Historia
Most days, Sarya doesn't feel like the most terrifying creature in the galaxy. Most days, she's got other things on her mind. Like hiding her identity among the hundreds of alien species roaming the corridors of Watertower Station. Or making sure her adoptive mother doesn't casually eviscerate one of their neighbors. Again. And most days, she can almost accept that she'll never know the truth - that she'll never know why humanity was deemed too dangerous to exist.

I read a lot and I love this type of cerebral offering. I never leave reviews but I just had to compliment the author on this one. There are so many tangled paths that you lead Saria down without losing the objective. You are talented and I will follow you so I don't miss out. Please give us more!

Historia
CDC researcher Nadine Parker and her team are baffled. Lukas Behn’s daughter Kyndra has contracted a bizarre new virus that leaves her screaming in pain. But they can't identify any physical, biological source for that pain, not in Kyndra, nor in the dozens, then hundreds, and finally millions of children worldwide succumbing to the same virus. And no one seems to have made a connection between what's happening with the infected children and the events on a small coral reef in the South Pacific.

Timely and Excellent
Revisado: 10-12-23
I have left only 2 reviews since I began listening to audio books in 2007. I'm a reader not a writer.
This was a delicious story that enchanted me over and over. The descriptions bring you into the moment vividly. I loved the way she associated cooking terms and southern culture. The narrator is also excellent.
The story is new and mysterious. I hope to read more by this author.

Realistic, Scary

Listening to this while doing daily chores, I found myself immersed in your story to the point of fearing for my family's survival. I was imagining how the events depicted here would change our lives. I wish I could have the next one STAT. Thank you Mr. Akart.

Finally! A NEW scenario!
Revisado: 08-31-17
I love post apocalyptic fiction but it's all the same recently. This was different. Also, it wasn't all Doom and Gloom. Funny, sad, bittersweet, scary and engaging. The narrator did a great job too.

Historia
Dylan Townsend stands on the beach watching commercial jets fall out of the sky like oak leaves twirling in the wind. A wing shears off the one closest to the shore just before it splashes down in the sea. Why was she telling him this outlandish story? What sort of tourist agency would offer people a front row seat to the end of the world? More importantly, why would anyone book such a vacation if there wasn't any way home afterward?
