Historia
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

Not for the faint of heart. This is a very sad and disturbing read. It grabs you by the throat on the first chapter and continues to choke you throughout. Very satisfying, very realistic,

Historia
To serial slayer Andrew Compton, murder is an art, the most intimate art. After feigning his own death to escape from prison, Compton makes his way to the United States with the sole ambition of bringing his “art” to new heights. Tortured by his own perverse desires, and drawn to possess and destroy young boys, Compton inadvertently joins forces with Jay Byrne, a dissolute playboy who has pushed his “art” to limits even Compton hadn’t previously imagined.

A Beautiful Disgusting Book
Revisado: 01-13-23
This is a book with some bite. Literally! I was looking for disturbing literature when I stumbled on this. It did not disappoint. A very good piece of literary art. Every passage and chapter is a combination of amazing descriptions and gory horror. Not for the faint of heart, but if you can stomach it, it is a wild ride.

Best Book I ever Read
Revisado: 04-24-21
This story was incredible. From the very first chapter until the last word, the reader is addicted. This is one of those books you start listening to in your car and end up staying up ALL night to see where these characters land. Thank you to the author for a wonderful, tragic, but beautiful story.

Revisado: 01-26-21
This author does not hold back. If you are looking for a depraved hopeless situation of a book, then this is for you. If you are a fan of Jack Ketchum, this is even crazier. Perfect narrator for the book, he is creepy!

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Words cannot describe the eye opening that is going on in this book. Not only does Candace tell it straight, she backs it up with facts. I wonder how many people are scared now that this little bomb is exploding.

Historia
For Detective Sam Porter, the words "Father, forgive me" conjure memories long forgotten; a past intentionally buried. For Anson Bishop, these three words connect a childhood to the present as he unleashes a truth concealed for decades. Found written on cardboard near each body, these words link multiple victims to a single killer - discovered within minutes of each other in both Chicago and South Carolina - clearly connected yet separated by impossible miles.

This Series is A Knockout
Revisado: 08-29-19
I have no idea where to begin. I waited two years for this series to close and now that it has, I am so sad about that. Everything about these three books are amazing. JD was so impressive in his writing style. The story left me breathless at the end. I hung on every word of all three books. I was devastated about how book 2 ended, but the end was worth the wait. Buy this series, sit back, and enjoy the ride!!

I am a HUGE Gregg Hurwitz fan and I am so glad he found Scott Brick to read his books. This story could have been better but he was still new at the game. Hopefully the second one is better.

Sorry GH, not as compelling
Revisado: 02-14-19
First of all, I am Hurwitz’s biggest fan. I have listened to most of his book now and just finished the latest Orphan X, one of the best books / series ever! This did not compel me. The story was just OK. Brick’s performance is stellar once again and he made it worthwhile. I didn’t mind the violence but I just did not care about the characters. They lacked a depth that really brings your interest home. I figured out many of the key elements before they happen and that is highly unusual for a GH book. I give it 4 stars, if you are a fan of Hurwitz and enjoy a great Scott Brick read, it is worth your time. If this is your first Hurwitz book, pick another one, maybe...... ORPHAN X?!!

Revisado: 10-28-18
I knew the story of The Manson Family and always wanted to read Helter Skelter but never had the time. Thanks to the glory of audiobook and Scott Brick’s flawless narrative, I was finally able to jump in. The story is so incredible it could be fictional, but it is not. This book is an American history icon and will be reviewed for generations to come.
