Alison Larkins narration is wonderful. The voices, emotions, accents, are impressive and so good.
The story itself is good in concept, but like another horror writer, there is just too much filler, descriptions of events, and others that do not advance the story itself. They feel like they are there just to make the story longer. The story could have been an hour or two shorter without losing much.

I wanted to like this series. The dialog is a bit childish. Sid, our heroine, is absurdly up tight, high strung, unprofessional, and with the emotional maturity of a 12 year old. Always angry. Always complaining. It’s like a mash up of bad female stereotypes. She kicks ass, but has to belabor and endlessly question her decisions. I appreciate reflection and self criticism, but it goes on a bit too long I think in trying to get the point across.
The narrator is good with the voices for men and women, but I could do without the sound effects for guns, machine guns, etc. They come out sounding comedic.

The story is really good. Absolutely worth the buy. Only two complaints. Jane our heroine is grotesquely ignorant and naive about how other people think. She seems to always assume everyone sees as she does even when they weren’t there to see what she sees.
The other is that I desperately do not like duets. One character being voiced by multiple VAs is too confusing for me. Elements of the voice and personality of the character are always different.

The adventure and a strong female character were awesome. My only complaint is that starting in the fifth and even more in the sixth was the characters constant complaining, and then repeating those complaints every few chapters so it seemed continuous. I almost quit listening with three hours remaining.
It IS an awesome story with great characters and their development save for the above. It is definitely worth listening. I just have a pet peeve.

The story itself was good. A nice Lovecraftian horror. The concern was the narration. Maybe this was early in the narrators career, but much seemed like a computer. The words being spoken in a stream, without much inflection, little to no emotion and not reflecting the tone or feel of the moment. Sometimes when voicing a character it would improve, but not often.

As the follow up to Cthulhu’s Car Park, Sam and her friends join up again to save Ann Arbor. I love Lovecraft horror, but I liked that the storyline is its own. There is continuity with the are the heroes, but that’s it. The rest of the story, villains, and events are unique to this book.

I found this audiobook while looking for Lovecraft-themed stories, and decided to try it. I found the narrator's style a little unusual until I got to know Sam, the protagonist’s, personality. Then I was able to appreciate that she nailed it.
It was a fun listen with eldritch horrors, insane cultists and impromptu heroes.

The stories are fun and interesting. I fully intend to finish the series. However, it gets old where Alison is the least mature person in the room all the time, and often childishly petty. It can be hard to relate to her, and her reactions.

I found this series for investing while looking for introductory type audiobooks. I’m glad I tried Joseph’s Dividend Investing book. Brief, clear, concise, no hype or chest pounding ego. Simple direct information and advice, with explanations that I was able to understand and appreciate.
I will be listening to the others.

I literally could not finish the last 60 minutes of the fifth book. The unrealistic dialog, the grossly immature emotional responses. When an officer gives a command, especially in the heat of battle. there will not be questions of why? What do you see I don’t? You. Just. Do. It. Immediately. The spoon feeding of plots, and rehashing of explanations, and the oh wait. I’m sorry. What did you ask? I’m so tired.
Finally, I did my time in the military. Yes, we cursed frequently, but it was not every other word. The cursing is the only thing that prevents this from being a book more fit for preteens.
The narrator does an admirable job. Good voicing and verbal pace, but ultimately, the story was interesting, but thin to begin with, and just really goes downhill in the last book.
