Narration was the only problem

I was really disappointed that Steve-o couldn’t finish narrating. The narrator they code was honestly kinda annoying. Other than that, couldn’t put it down!

Epic story, horrid narration

I read this book in high school and loved it so I decided I’d listen to it again since it’s been so long. The story is filled with symbolism between law and order vs instinct and chaos. Im happy to report that I enjoyed it even more now that I’m older.
The narration however, is awful. He sounds bored reading his own book and there are quite a few occurrences where he breathes into the microphone. It really comes off as unprofessional and uncaring. It’s be nice to get a new narrator for the book.

talk about driving the struggle bus on this book. the beginning isnt too bad and seems true to form, and then it turns. the narration caused me to just zone out and not actually listen to what was being said. it doesnt help that once he gets into some stoic values it becomes so philosophical and so preachy that I just stopped listening.

I was interested in this book when moss was on the mind pump podcast. this honestly was a struggle for me to finish. the concepts talked about are unnecessarily drawn out. that, it leaves you confused. some may like it but not for me.

Sal does an excellent job explaining the science behind his methods and ideas. this book is filled with useful, practical information that any trainer or health conscious individual should know.

wayyyy too scientific for my taste.

I was bored within the first 30 minutes. for me, it was not entertaining in the slightest and honestly, the longer I listened the more I stopped actually listening. I'm looking for more practical information not a textbook of studies.

VERY immersive

I loved this book. the characters are relatable and the antagonist is so despicable that you find yourself hating them even after putting the book down. The overall story was incredible and i had a difficult time not binge listening to it.
The narrator had a decent performance however, i found the accents he chose for children were just downright obnoxious. i often wished he wouldve picked differently. He did nail the protagonist and antagonist near perfection in my opinion.

great besides the white/male shaming throughout

i love Nick Offermans performances. This book was a lot of unformation to take in and most of it really makes you think. The other parts consisted of nothing more than white people (specifically males) should feel bad about the differences that "we created" within the nation. i found myself wanting to remove the book during these parts for the simple fact that it was presented in a condescending and demeaning manner. I enjoy Nick but i hate his views on a few points.
