He figures he’ll stay in for a while to save money to get away from Los Angeles with his girl, but his archrival homie Rico sees him as a threat and schemes to get Mags out of the way forever. Mags plays right into Rico’s hands, only realizing what his homie is up to after it’s too late. Then Mags must make a difficult sacrifice to save his family and himself.

Great story of a man trying to escape LA gang life
Revisado: 06-06-22
I was not expecting to enjoy this story as much as I did as its not a genre I typically listen to. The story of a Los Angeles gang member fresh out of prison and adjusting to life on the outside, wanting a fresh start but finding things do not go according to plan. The characters are engaging and Andre G. Chapoy brings the character of Mags to life along with his desires, fears, and problems. I liked how the story developed and avoided familiar tropes; making it feel more real. This is the second book of Christina Hoag’s books I’ve listened to and looking forward to hearing more in the future.
