A conservative masterpiece!
Revisado: 11-29-24
Blake Crouch makes a point for the conservative world view better than any conservative talking head! What’s the most important thing that drives a good man??? Love, for his family! That means a wife and a child and he will do literally anything to get back to them! He truly and delightfully expreses this paradigm in this story!

On Christmas Day in 1893, every man, woman, and child in a remote mining town disappeared, belongings forsaken, meals left to freeze in vacant cabins, and not a single bone found. Now, journalist Abigail Foster and her historian father have set out to explore the long-abandoned town and learn what happened. With them are two backcountry guides—along with a psychic and a paranormal photographer who are there to investigate rumors that the town is haunted.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 11-27-24
I think Blake peaked with “Recursion”. Not every author has what it takes to realistically appraise the darkest depths of human nature, as he attempts in this book. It falls short for me. But I would love a sequel for Recursion! I like to be entertained and Crouch is good at that!

Revisado: 01-25-23
Not impressed at all. Reads like a cheap romance novel. A very personal account of sorrows I guess, just not widely relatable. On the plus side, decent story telling and descriptive imagery for a broad audience!

Historia
For women in tech, Silicon Valley is not a fantasy land of unicorns, virtual reality rainbows, and 3D-printed lollipops, where millions of dollars grow on trees. It's a "Brotopia", where men hold all the cards and make all the rules. Vastly outnumbered, women face toxic workplaces rife with discrimination and sexual harassment, where investors take meetings in hot tubs and network at sex parties. In this powerful exposé, Bloomberg TV journalist Emily Chang reveals how Silicon Valley got so sexist despite its utopian ideals....

Not worth it!
Revisado: 03-30-22
The great part of this book, all the juicy and gross stuff about the sex parties, is already in the Vanity Fair article written about this book. The rest of the bok is just bitching and moaning, and I found it quite boring.

I only know discovered his podcast, and it makes me so happy to know our Mother Ginger is so based and dispensing the red pills! You got a new fan for sure!
Best,

Now, many decades and three children later, Kessler embarks on a journey to join a professional company to perform in The Nutcracker. Raising the Barre is more than just one woman's story; it is a story about shaking things up, taking risks, and ignoring good sense and forgetting how old you are and how you're "supposed" to act.

Revisado: 03-30-21
Gad Saad writes beautifully and insightfully! He lays out a lot of the problems we face as a society using the lens of truth and biology.
Only complaint is that there are no pictures because Dr. Saad is very handsome!

The culture of “safety” and its intolerance of opposing viewpoints has left many young people anxious and unprepared for adult life. Lukianoff and Haidt offer a comprehensive set of reforms that will strengthen young people and institutions, allowing us all to reap the benefits of diversity, including viewpoint diversity. This is a book for anyone who is confused by what’s happening on college campuses today, or has children, or is concerned about the growing inability of Americans to live and work and cooperate across party lines.
