Historia
Late on a hot summer night in the tail end of 1965, Charlie Bucktin, a precocious and bookish boy of 13, is startled by an urgent knock on the window of his sleep-out. His visitor is Jasper Jones, an outcast in the regional mining town of Corrigan. Rebellious, mixed-race, and solitary, Jasper is a distant figure of danger and intrigue for Charlie. So when Jasper begs for his help, Charlie eagerly steals into the night by his side, terribly afraid but desperate to impress. Jasper takes him through town and to his secret glade in the bush, and it's here that Charlie bears witness to Jasper's horrible discovery....

Where does Jasper Jones rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a powerful Australian story
What was one of the most memorable moments of Jasper Jones?
When our young central character realised that he is the only one controlling his choices.
What does Humphrey Bower bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Humphrey Bower brings a great sense of fun particularly in the dialoge between Charlie and his best mate. He also delivers the pains of loss and confusion to great effect.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I really enjoyed listening to this story in installments creating a wonderful sense of anticipation.

Historia
When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early 40s, the town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

No person can be pigeon holed
Revisado: 01-29-13
Where does The Casual Vacancy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A compelling story with a masterful voice giving life to the characters and painting a vivid picture of a parochial existence.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Perhaps in the early part of the story the characters may have been a litlle less archtypical but each principal developed with the develpment of the plot and interaction with more characters.
What about Tom Hollander’s performance did you like?
I wasnt familiar with the reader Tom Hollander until I heard this book. I really enjoyed his characterisations and and the distinct personalities he brought to each. I may shop on the basis of his reading in future.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, I expected a catastrophe to bring a climax to the story but the ultimate climax was quite a bit more and I really enjoyed that it so effectively revealed the reality of individuals, their flaws, their heroism and foibles. Life in a small town
