I see where they were trying to go
Revisado: 02-07-23
this story was a lot. I wouldn't really recommend but I didn't just dislike it either. there was a lot going on and at times it felt like way too much was happening. there were cute moments but then there were super deep and or new age mystic moments that just keep trying to make it deeper than it needed to be. the main character was all over the map and at the end it was like they forced a moral shift. he just never seemed to be consistent. the sister was the only character that really seemed to come together and she was not a primary factor.....but interesting concept.

interesting and makes think BUT READ YOUR BIBLE
Revisado: 11-11-22
I tend to skip leaving reviews but this one keep nagging me. I have finished all if the chronicles of the nephilim series and I always walk away with mixed feelings. I appreciate the way Brian makes u considered how actions during these times have a relevant impact on present day. The way he modernized how they would look at religion is interesting and echos the issues with progressive Christianity. People complain about the explicit sexual scenes and I agree they go to far sometimes but what's equally alarming is the descriptions of violence. I'm indifferent because I get the need to prove a point but then it just always goes 1 or 2 steps to far. Especially since there were moments where Biblical accuracy was completely ignored in order to paint a different disturbing picture. I found my self extremely frustrated with how he handled Jehosephat's story. I get he needed to focus on the plot and subject but he completely changed some important aspects of the Biblical account. There was a real opportunity to show a stark contrast between a good King and a bad one and Brian opted to just remix the whole thing. That annoyed me. Then we get a ridiculous parts that won't add any value to the story and I'm lefts wondering... what was more important telling the story or telling his own story. Either way I gained somethings from it and it just encourages me to continue to seek scripture and comb it and know it for myself to prevent deception. These are by no means a substitute for scripture or the accuracy of that. It’s just interesting to see it as a big picture. There should have been some sort of Biblical editor to catch all the small mistakes that didn't seem to be creative choices and more of an indication that he enjoys paganism and the building up the spiritual fantasy part more than actually getting the Biblical facts. He called Athalia Ahabs sister when he 1st introduced her then his daughter later...but maybe I'm nitpicking. 😏 🤔

eye opening
Revisado: 02-24-21
I appreciate the transparency of this book. Costi put his personal behavior on display as a response to the prosperity gospel and didn't make this a tell of where he aired out dirty laundry in deep detail. as some one who grew up seeing Benny Hinn each morning before school this was sobering and confirmed what I already thinking.

Informative and thought provoking
Revisado: 02-15-21
I love the book and will buy the hard copy as well as listen again. There were a few phrases I believe that I need to see on paper to understand what I'm hearing. There are people I want to see be saved and it can be intimidating to approach them when you know what they are up against. Nabeel points out nobody ever even ask him about Jesus... That makes me think of how many people we walk past everyday and neglect to offer the Gospel. This book has inspired me and lit a fire in me.

such a wonderful read
Revisado: 12-20-19
I really enjoyed this book. It kept my attention and I could not stop listening. I really enjoyed the twist and turns. Nothing was over done and the pace was comfortable and nothing was boring or slow. The reader was fantastic and I could listen to her repeatedly. The husband in the book was so forgiving and supportive. I love how it was not a lot of deception and negative stereotypes. It was refreshing.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.
