Historia
Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

I really enjoyed this book
Revisado: 06-10-16
I loved the previous book "Ready Player One" This book was also a stand alone, and was similarly enjoyable for this child of the 80's. Will Wheaton is the perfect voice for the audio productions. Hopefully they will make a B+ movie out of one or both.

Crude and disappointing
Revisado: 08-03-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I found the storyline crude and disappointing. I really love lean manufacturing and entrepreneurship but these hacks seem to regurgitate other books instead of coming up with new ideas. After listening to them for an hour and 45 minutes, and really wanting to like it, my basic reaction was to pull over and write this negative review

Historia
Successful couples know that harmony and happiness in marriage are not achieved by love alone. There is the other side of the Ephesians 5:33 equation - respect. Yes, a wife needs love. But a husband needs respect. Based on extensive biblical and scientific research, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs reveals the secret to couples meeting each other's deepest needs: Without love she reacts without respect, and without respect he reacts without love and a destructive, vicious cycle begins.

Good for all relationships
Revisado: 12-22-09
I feel the techniques and philosophy of this book are both Biblical and very useful. I listened to this over several weeks on my drive to and from work. During those weeks, I as the husband was reminded of my role. Also during this time my wife was reading a hard copy. There was a noticeable increase in love and respect during those weeks. Life was just as busy, but our attitudes toward each other were much better.
Three months later, the improvements are not as sharp, but are still defiantly there. I intend to re-listen &/or re-read soon because I know it works.
As a side note; this also helped me recognize and better understand disrespect in my workplace.

Historia
In factories around the world, Toyota consistently makes the highest-quality cars with the fewest defects of any competing manufacturer, while using fewer man-hours, less on-hand inventory, and half the floor space of its competitors. The Toyota Way is the first book for a general audience that explains the management principles and business philosophy behind Toyota's worldwide reputation for quality and reliability.

Value Added.
Revisado: 12-22-09
Toyota Way was very illuminating on differences between Toyota Management & Production systems vs. the management styles I've seen from 3 American companies (each +100 years old.) This book focused on the culture of Toyota, which appears to be integrated and consistent with the techniques of TPS. I feel this consistency of philosophy and technique is a gigantic advantage because I've experienced the impotence of technique without vision.
I have been involved with Lean projects for 2 years. This book filled in many gaps in the "why" Lean techniques are done, which I found highly value added.
This is not a techniques book, and that's good. TPS is equal parts sociological and technical. This is the first Lean book I've encountered that focused on the sociological.
