Historia
It was just supposed to be a marriage on paper. Koa needed a path to citizenship and I needed the money to open Bridges and Bitters. All I've ever wanted is to take care of my sisters and run my own bar, my way. What did I care if I had a technical husband? A husband with too many dimples and more charm than he should have… So when he rolled into town after five years to deal with some paperwork, he's turned everything upside-down. Sure, Koa is charismatic and fun, but he's also a nomad. I don't have time for vacations and I don't know how to play games.

fun continuation
Revisado: 03-11-25
I love that this book picked up right at the cliff hanger from the previous book. I really wanted to know who this new character was and how he got into the story! I love the chemistry between Esther and Koa, although I found it strange how frequently and openly they kept referring to their union as an arrangement. Aside from this I really enjoyed the character development and understanding Esther's back story, plus getting the glimpse of what was going on with the other characters who were the main focus for the other books in the series.

Historia
On paper, I've got it all…an amazing group of friends, a rabid fan base for my romance novels, and a sweetheart of a husband. Except, these days, his heart doesn’t seem so sweet. He also doesn’t seem to understand my career…or maybe me at all. Teddy didn’t start out as a stuffy suit. It just sort of happened, somewhere between his MBA and his big promotion and our failed attempts at starting a family. From the time we met on the soccer field, Teddy and I have been inseparable. Only Teddy hasn’t kicked a goal in a long time and he doesn't really not unhappy.

Very Realistic
Revisado: 02-18-25
After reading the first book in the series I was so excited to jump into the next one and this definitely did not disappoint! The story did a great job at being realistic about the process of working with a fertility clinic and how creating a family is not always a straightforward mission. I liked that the author took the time to have the characters grow and really work at their marriage and relationship. I also really appreciate that the epilogue takes place a year later and the characters were not in a cliche happy ending but rather working towards their mutual goals.

Historia
Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP, for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them when they come out to Palm Springs for weeklong visits, or when he heads home to Connecticut for the holidays. But in terms of caretaking and relating to two children, no matter how adorable, Patrick is, honestly, overwhelmed. So when tragedy strikes and Maisie and Grant lose their mother and Patrick's brother has a health crisis of his own, Patrick finds himself suddenly taking on the role of primary guardian.

very sweet story
Revisado: 02-04-25
It's a very sweet story and it was great to hear it read by the author. With this being a pull between grief and comedy, I expected more silly situations between the uncle who knows nothing about kids and the children who are suddenly thrust into a new environment without their parents. The moments where they all opened up to each other in their sadness and grief were very touching and I liked how everyone developed into their characters.

this was okay
Revisado: 01-19-25
The story was okay. I didn't find the characters to be all that likeable and I couldn't really connect with them. I wish we got a better resolution between Thea and Chris at the end.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

So many unexpected moments
Revisado: 01-01-25
Just when I felt I knew what was going on, suddenly the story goes in a conifer different direction. I was very intrigued by the twists and feel this would be such a great book to reread and pick up on all those little clues and hints the author drops in there. Of course I'm here feeling bad for Amy, then catapult to feel bad for Nick instead and hoping he can escape this life. I'm glad I had a version with extended scenes not originally included as it helped me understand more of Amy's childhood, explaining why she turned out the way she did.

I loved the twists! Like the previous Millie book, I really liked the two perspectives and adding up all the little clues and hints along the way. Of course I think I know what's going to happen next and not only am I completely wrong but then about five other unexpected things suddenly happen at the end! Can't wait to dive into the next one.

I've been a huge fan of the author since I first read this book in high school, and while I've since read it a few times I'm always finding I understand it more and more, particularly in our current political climate. Orwell was definitely brilliant with this one

Historia
Sasha has had it. She cannot bring herself to respond to another inane, “urgent” email or participate in the corporate employee joyfulness program. She hasn’t seen her friends in months. Sex? Seems like a lot of effort. Even cooking dinner takes far too much planning. Sasha has hit a wall. Armed with good intentions to drink kale smoothies, try yoga, and find peace, she heads to the seaside resort she loved as a child. But it’s the off season, the hotel is in a dilapidated shambles, and she has to share the beach with the only other occupant: a grumpy guy named Finn.

what a sweet story
Revisado: 03-13-24
I really liked the "will they or won't they" vibes these two characters gave throughout. It was also exciting having that little element of mystery in the background as well. I was a little bit thrown when the story suddenly jumped 6 months towards the end.
