Historia
Matteo lives on the back of a giant turtle, one of several kaiju that roam the land. It's the only place safe from the hordes of monsters roaming the forest below. Everything from goblins to grasshoppers make living on the ground deadly. Matteo's new job is to kill those monsters in the giant turtle’s path, pest control for their home kaiju. He just has to survive the training. Unfortunately for him, the other recruits hate him, the mortality rate for recruits is sky high, and every outing involves fighting monsters that can easily kill him.

Okay book bad performance
Revisado: 06-07-24
The Book:
Overall it the book was okay. The magic was decent but the author couldn't keep a consistent culture.
The Performance:
I tried a few times to listen to this book but the performance was bad. On top of that the editing was rough and patched together in many different places.
I wouldn't recommend this audible book, but it might be worth getting the text book.

Despite this, half-elf Kiru and his mother live a quiet existence in a remote village where nothing ever happens. Nothing, that is, until the day Kiru gets into a fight with a rich lordling who breaks his spine.

Bad performance and Writing was rough-hewn
Revisado: 02-04-24
To start off the performance for me was bad. It was very one tone for most of the time. And the few times there was a shift in tone it was overly portrayed. The Audio quality was fine and Kevin T. Collins did a good job at pronouncing most of the words as well.
The writing was slightly better than the performance. The story was essentially a bad version of Harry Potter mixed with cultivation. It seemed like the author didn't intend for this book to be grimdark but it was. The MC is constantly belittled and bullied, and the different protagonist are essentially dumb brutes who dont think and punch down. I would call this a YA book based off the flow of the story line but the content seems to aim more adult.
I have read many books who over look small details or go the expected path and liked many of them. This book has both those flaws and every other trope you can imagine. I would not recommend this book to friends, and I am baffled at the other reviews here.

Historia
The elves took everything. Following a bloodied slaughter of her whole race, and struggling to stay alive, she had no choice but to survive on her own. That was until the world changed. Her entire planet; a whole cluster was introduced to the vast universe by The System, or perhaps God. A universe filled with endless beings and civilizations that fought for power and dominance. After the integration, Blair finds herself in a forest surrounded by unknown beasts, peril lurking, alone. Alone and with nothing but the mentality to survive, she will have to get stronger in this unforgiving world.

good story, better series
Revisado: 08-28-23
you can tell this is the first book in a series. Lots of great ideas but the execution mixed with the performance wasn't great. I did end up reading the next book in the series and have enjoyed it a lot. Most of the execution flaws were fixed by the second book.

Dicathen’s most powerful allies have vanished, and the military alliance between men, elves, and dwarves threatens collapse.

Revisado: 08-18-23
Overall basically the same thing as the other books in this series. But darker than previous ones slightly. I really dislike that part of this series. Every bad person is always stronger and every one always dies. The mc makes the same mistakes over and over.

Loads of action, Bad character communication
Revisado: 06-19-23
I might have been able to enjoy this book more if I would have read it instead of listened. Over all the harsh narration mixed with complete lack of competence in writing verbal communication between characters made this a book that I couldn't enjoy. In general this book reminds me of 'The Primal Hunter' by Zogarth. But due to the mix of story and narration I found this book harder to enjoy.
As a note I am not a Travis Baldree fan in most cases. I often avoid books he has narrated due to his fan base over inflating the average review rating on audible.

Historia
The year is 2375, and the world has been drained of most of its natural resources. In order to preserve their dying planet, the government puts The Digital Life Initiative into action. Those deemed of low economic value are placed into a state of cryogenic sleep, their minds connected to a myriad of virtual worlds. They become digital citizens, living out their lives in virtual cities. Kadia Greene wasn’t someone who had any interest in the virtual worlds, unlike her brother who spent his days wasting away in a VR capsule.

Historia
Slinging hotdogs may not be the most glorious side gig, but hey, if it paid for college, that’s all Emma could ask for. And let’s be real, of all the crowds in the world, what were the odds that Comic-Con would get Portalled next? Emma really should’ve known better. Once again, the universe conspires against her, and now she’s stuck in a world where the laws of physics don’t seem to apply and even the grass is trying to kill her. She better pay close heed to the artificial intelligence guiding her and make some new friends fast, because out here, it’s thrive or die.

Good but different
Revisado: 02-12-23
Good overall, but as others mentioned heavy on the calculations. Unlike some books in this genre it's not using stat sheets as filler.
Both the test and the audio version have a problem with distinguishing between internal dialog and external imo. That's probably my biggest critique overall.
While it's not Defiance of the fall, or He Who Fights Monsters, it's not trying to be either. Worth a read imo.
