Captivating story and great narration

I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype. It did. Gorgeous writing and the narration was delightful. Captivating in all the ways you want from good storytelling.

Knox’s voice actor - laughed so hard I snorted

Let’s address the review title. His first line in the book, “Aria.” In this overly deep growl-esque thing. It was funny. I laughed and laughed some more. I almost stopped listening multiple times because of the way the male character is narrated. It didn’t improve for most of the book.

Noticeable inconsistency in the narrators with accent and voice control of characters. You can 100% tell when they had to re-record or started the recording again. Which can be jarring.

The plot line is getting dragged out for the benefit of a few ok sex scenes. It’s like whiplash with the characters and there’s no actual development of them at this point either. It’s just a vendetta for Knox. The book has at multiple points said only his true mate can do certain things yet he insists lilianna was his mate despite never doing any of the appropriate things. Aria is 26 but is being held accountable for centuries ago grievances while doing every possible thing his true mate could do. He even questioned if lilianna was his mate but love and grief blind him. . It’s becoming a bit droll.
It feels like plot holes are being found along the way and instead of rewriting and revising sections or adding a few details to fix plots it was easier to just make up something that doesn’t make sense to the reader to fix it. Makes for no continuity to the story. Or these absolutely astounding saves that “develop” but don’t. I’ve had several moments where I had to go back and listen to something because it contradicted previous things and then way down the road it’s actually this master plan to fix the holes. Or make it seem like both of these characters are the most intuitive and brilliant individuals on the planet. It’s getting old because it’s a lot of fluff at times to add sex without substance.

Whiny and jumps

The narration sounded whiny, if I had listened to the preview, I wouldn't have bought it. Maybe it's because the narration was not to my liking but the storyline was jumpy.

How could the performance have been better?

Horribly long pauses. It made it feel as if with every sentence she was starting a new chapter. It really threw me off from the flow of how the story is supposed to progress.
