Historia
Successful New York psychiatrist Richard Gallagher was skeptical yet intrigued when a hard-nosed, no-nonsense Catholic priest asked him to examine a woman for a possible exorcism. Meeting her, Gallagher was astonished. The woman’s behavior defied logic. This remarkable case was the first of many that Gallagher would encounter. Sought after today by leaders of all faiths—ministers, priests, rabbis and imams, Gallagher has spent a quarter-century studying demonic activity and exorcisms throughout history and has witnessed more cases than any other psychiatrist in the world today.

Something To Think About
Revisado: 08-24-22
Frankly this book doesn't present any real evidence for demonic forces. It talks about some strange coincidences but if you were looking for something to change your mind this isn't it. Demons, ghosts, aliens, and even weirder theories like Flat Earth all have "evidence", but really that is just an abundance of non sense information and freak occurrences that add up to unexplainable situations. If 1000 hikers get lost, one of them is bound to disappear mysteriously without any normal explanation seeming possible. It's normal for humans to see patterns were there are none and to be honest the demons in this book seem like goofy hoodlums rather than actual primordial enemies of God. I don't know how seriously I should take this book. I do believe something like demons exist out there but I find the mainstream Christian narrative to be ridiculous and I highly doubt it's true. If you want to read about a subculture that believes in demonic possessions from a highly Americanized Christian perspective then you might find this book helpful but if you actually want to learn about demons then I would suggest more complex books on the occult, international finance, child trafficking, or a hundred other things. Many people do believe in the occult and wether it's real or not, that belief gives it power in this world.

Trapped between life and death, he learns that his friends are in serious trouble. Strange Dresden novel With the most heart
Revisado: 05-19-22
For some reason this book reminds me of Christmas ghost stories. this may be the weirdest of the Dresden novels so far but it has a certain endearing quality to it that I can't help but like. The very last part of the book has some of my favorite Dresden files moments.

Comfy Low Fantasy
Revisado: 02-24-22
This book has a lot of problems. Sometimes the plot goes around in circles and many conversations between the characters are repeated. It often feels like the characters are spinning their wheels and the end battle came as a surprise to me, it felt almost rushed. This fantasy setting has a lot of limitations. Every character has very similar motivations and a identical cultural background. So the characters can all very very similar to each other.
Now for the good stuff. the best descriptor for me is comfy. I just liked the atmosphere and style of the story. The very simplistic and honorable thought processes of the characters were charming. I like the novelty of a Indo European fantasy novel. I wish the Jotunns were more monstrous or magical, and I don't know if I like how the Gods are portrayed but it is a worth while read if you are looking for something more unique or grounded. It helps give life to many concepts that seem hard to understand I'm the abstract like a Koryos or the horse veneration.

Historia
Some say that to change the world you must first burn it down. Now that belief will be tested in the crucible of revolution: The Breakers and Burners have seized the levers of power, the smoke of riots has replaced the smog of industry, and all must submit to the wisdom of crowds. With nothing left to lose, Citizen Brock is determined to become a new hero for the new age, while Citizeness Savine must turn her talents from profit to survival before she can claw her way to redemption.

More of the same with an interesting ending
Revisado: 09-17-21
Joe Abercrombie has a very particular writing style and about 5-6 characters he recycles in every story. If this book was edited better I suspect you could cut 25% of it and lose nothing. Many times a character will repeat their inner monologue to themselves and after reading many First Law books I have gotten very tired of hearing those same self loathing monologues. The story is ok, the real fireworks start going off at the end with many twists I saw a mile away and a few surprises that caught me off guard. overall I'm excited for the next trilogy and I hope some real progression can be made.
This trilogy was honestly filler. Maybe it needed to happen but it's all set up for the big finale. Hopefully the First of the Magi can get the spotlight in the next one.

The ruling Asharites of Al-Rassan have come from the desert sands, but over centuries, seduced by the sensuous pleasures of their new land, their stern piety has eroded. The Asharite empire has splintered into decadent city-states led by warring petty kings. King Almalik of Cartada is on the ascendancy, aided always by his friend and advisor, the notorious Ammar ibn Khairan - poet, diplomat, soldier - until a summer afternoon of savage brutality changes their relationship forever.

Enjoyable but a bit annoying
Revisado: 03-07-18
I got annoyed at how much the pseudo Jewish and Muslim characters keep talking about how they’re much more advanced or stronger than the pseudo European characters. Whatever. The book follows a trio of characters which are all interesting enough. The main character is a Jewish woman and a doctor, the next is basically just El Cid, and the final one is a Muslim poet. They experience misadventure and comradeship. Not the worst book but definitely not the best. Only read if you really like Crusader style stories where white Christians are seemingly the lamest faction. If you can ignore the pozz, then it’s a fine read.

Supernatural Fun
Revisado: 03-07-18
A story about a wizard who works as a paranormal investigator for anyone that has a problem. These books have a formula that goes like this; harry gets into something in over his head because of his desire to help people, then he gets involved in an even greater mystery, which leads to lots of future trouble for him. Throughout the book Harry is the underdog that consistently manages to out think and our maneuver opponents that are far stronger than he is. Very good entertainment.

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

Cute Story, bad ending
Revisado: 03-07-18
Warbreaker is definitely an entertaining story filled with novel ideas. A great read for a young woman in my opinion. It stays away from the degeneracy of most young adult novels, the romance is very wholesome. The worse part about the book is the ending. It was very rushed, honestly it felt like the writer just wanted to be done with it and move on. It’s a shame because the book was actually pretty good overall. I’d recommend it if you like political intrigue and weird magic systems. The main characters are usually pretty charming.
