Historia
Julia is very short for her age, but by the end of the summer run of The Wizard of Oz, she'll realize how big she is inside, where it counts. She hasn't ever thought of herself as a performer, but when the wonderful director of Oz casts her as a Munchkin, she begins to see herself in a new way. As Julia becomes friendly with the poised and wise Olive and with her deeply artistic neighbor, Mrs. Chang, Julia's own sense of self as an artist grows.

Revisado: 01-06-23
If you work with children or people look to you for leadership and/or a role model, you should read this. There’s also insight to relationships that should pull children/parents, students/instructors, directors/cast members, coaches/athletes, and neighbors old and young closer together with a keener appreciation of one another.

I’m usually fairly disciplined in my listening. Not with this book. I honestly couldn’t “put it down.” Great plot. No wasted words. Plenty of twists. Terrific writing.

Historia
One rainy night, the unthinkable happens: Dylan Moran’s car plunges off the road into a raging river, his beautiful wife drowning as he struggles to shore. In the aftermath, through his grief, Dylan experiences sudden, strange visions: wherever he goes, he’s haunted by glimpses of himself. Dylan initially chalks it up to trauma, but that changes when he runs into a psychiatrist who claims he’s her patient. She says he has been undergoing a unique hypnotherapy treatment built on the idea that with every choice, he creates an infinite number of parallel universes.

Great until It Wasn’t
Revisado: 06-10-22
Really interesting book. It keep me “on the edge of my seat” until the end. A bit trite and “happily ever after” cliche ending.

Carp and Champi are fun characters. Tannebaum knows how to twist a story and make the reader laugh out loud. I’m two into the series and starting the third as soon as I post this. Traber Burns is excellent.

Historia
World-renowned adventuress Beryl Helliwell cited for "reckless" motoring? Why, the very idea! Constable Gibbs just has it in for her. The solution? Charm the magistrate, of course. But days after Beryl's appearance before the bench, she and Edwina pay a visit to the magistrate only to find his home ransacked and the man himself lying dead at the bottom of a grand staircase. Given the state of the house, his death appears to be connected to a rash of robberies in the village.

Beryl and Edwina feel like friends. I find myself cheering for them and sharing in their successes and lives. Ellicot weaves a great tale, but Barbara Rosenblat hits the real home run. She makes Ellicot’s great story a terrific listen. Thanks!

Couldn’t Stop Listening
Revisado: 01-15-21
This book is both wonderful and horrible. A wonderful story about a horrible experience. Chapter 24 is the first time I have ever noticed sound engineering problems. The recording sounds like the proper nouns were inserted emotionless into the narrative.

Not Worth the Effort
Revisado: 06-16-20
The plot is okay. There’s rising action, climax, and falling action. The performances are good...some are overdone. It’s the SOUND that is horrible. There are loud paranormal beings and whispering humans. BUT. The sound engineer didn’t do something right. I spent too much time rewinding and increasing the volume on whispering and turning down the volume on the screaming and loud sound effects. Granted I’m no sound engineer myself, but I do listen to about 175 books per year. This is the first review regarding sound. The listen was not really worth the hassle. I should have stopped listening, but I don’t do that. If I start it, I finished it. Thank goodness this was a June freebie.
