Historia
Storm clouds are approaching Culpeper County, Virginia, in early January 1861. The troublesome Fogarty brothers have been raising havoc across the countryside, and when the local lawman, Will Brannon, returns from another futile attempt to track them down, he finds the townspeople abuzz. South Carolina has seceded from the Union, and rumor has it more states will follow, perhaps even Virginia.

The characters were spot on
Revisado: 04-12-24
As I titled this review, the characters were spot on. The details of life in those days was also very historically accurate. A true pleasure to listen to.

Historia
As a hospice chaplain, Kerry Egan didn't offer sermons or prayers unless they were requested; in fact, she found, the dying rarely want to talk about God, at least not overtly. Instead she discovered she'd been granted an invaluable chance to witness firsthand what she calls the "spiritual work of dying" - the work of finding or making meaning of one's life, the experiences it's contained, and the people who have touched it, the betrayals, wounds, unfinished business, and unrealized dreams.

A wonderful read, for anyone
Revisado: 09-18-23
I didn’t listen to this book directly upon purchase, I was admittedly a little hesitant. As a person who has been through dying, obviously I haven’t finished yet, I found this book very interesting and inspirational and not like any other I have listened to. I highly recommend it, the author does the narration and does it very well.

Historia
Nearly a hundred years ago, two wealthy and privileged teenagers—Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb—were charged and convicted in a gruesome crime that would lead to the original “Trial of the Century”. Even in Jazz Age Chicago, the murder was uniquely shocking for the motive of the killers: well-to-do Jewish scions, full of promise, had killed fourteen-year-old Bobby Franks for the thrill of it. The trial was made even more sensational by the revelation of a love affair between the defendants and by defense attorney Clarence Darrow.

Sad but interesting
Revisado: 05-15-23
A very well written account of a horrible crime that changed so many lives. It can feel monotonous at times with overstated facts and court records, overall a very interesting listen.

One of the best, so far
Revisado: 09-10-22
As I work my way through the "Alex Cross" series, I have rarely been dissapointed, although it does happen. "Four Blind Mice" has been one of my favorites yet, the twists, and plot turns were much better than other's. Very detailed, a lot of movement around the country, with all the usual surprises. By far the best narration, for those of us who prefer audiobooks. Highly reccomended!

Historia
In 1973, a gunman fired five shots into Colonel Joe Alon, a kind, unassuming Israeli Air Force pilot. As it turned out, Alon wasn't just a pilot and family man - he was a high-ranking Israeli military official and hero of the Israeli Air Force. The assassin was never found and the case was closed. As a counterterrorism special agent, Fred Burton reopened the case and pursued the killer.

Well written and researched, a pleasure to listen or read
Revisado: 06-15-22
As the murder the book is based on happened just miles from my childhood home, as it did the author. I too was very much affected by the crime and remember it well. We also were regular customers at his fathers gas station/garage and the many other businesses on that corner and beyond. The affect something like that has on a teenager from a very safe and happy small town is immeasurable. I was totally enthralled with the book, the time spent working the crime and searching for answers is very commendable. I believe everyone, no matter where you grew up or when, will appreciate and enjoy the research and answers provided. Unfortunately, times have changed and often not for the best, although growing up in Bethesda was a whole different world, and I must thank the author for bringing me back, if only for a glimpse down memory lane. Very well written, gripping and lots of twists and turns.

Well written, as expected
Revisado: 01-19-22
Having grown up in the same area, at a later time, I thoroughly enjoyed the memories. Many of the stories discussed and covered in this book are expanded, behind the scenes looks at the events and times I vividly remember. I was slightly disappointed at the timing of the ending, pre Watergate. I can hope that Mr Bernstein has a follow up book with his personal perspective on his time at the Post. A great listen, well narrated and very informative.

Accurate and fascinating
Revisado: 10-20-21
What a marvelous book, so thoroughly researched and brilliantly brought to life. The proud men who survived and those who perished in the attack, deserve to have the story told. There are other wonderful books about this subject, it’s their misfortune to have written them much earlier, thus receiving no final and firm statements from the USN, Federal Government….. Thanks to the authors for bringing this all to light!

What can I say, one of the best books I’ve listened to! The stories and the man are both thought provoking, funny, sad and very inspiring. The honesty and often in-depth look at life, faith, spirituality and of course humor, as only Mr Tobolowsky can deliver. The book changed me, I am a better person from listening! Thanks Mr T!

Historia
When did you last hang out with Jim, Pam, Dwight, Michael, and the rest of Dunder Mifflin? It might have been back in 2013, when the series finale aired...or it might have been last night, when you watched three episodes in a row. But either way, long after the show first aired, it’s more popular than ever, and fans have only one problem - what to watch, or listen to, next. Fortunately, writer Andy Greene has that answer. In his brand-new oral history, The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s, Greene takes listeners behind the scenes.

Revisado: 10-23-20
Well written with a good and flowing narration. If you are a big fan of “The Office “ you should really enjoy this book. If you have never watched the show, you will definitely want to after listening to this book. I have listened to it twice and I am sure to listen more. I have been going back through the shows to find the hidden trinkets mentioned in the book. I highly recommend it to anyone, from casual fan to super fan.
