Listen if you want to fall asleep
Revisado: 08-26-24
The narrator’s monotonous p pace put literally made me lose interest or fall asleep. it was honestly an effort to keep listening or stay focused. Mispronunciation of words which any reader is familiar did not help.

Dexter’s laboratory
Revisado: 08-02-24
Anni Taylor is a good story teller.HOWEVER, the focus on reflections is unnecessary and a bit insulting to the reader. Yes, we would have understood that’s what they were thinking. Also, the use of a cartoon character’s voice to represent the Polish detective was just bad.

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Historia
We can hardly imagine a Britain without Elizabeth II on the throne. It seems to be the job she was born for. And yet for much of her early life, the young princess did not know the role that her future would hold. She was our accidental queen. Elizabeth's determination to share in the struggles of her people marked her out from a young age.

Narration does not aid comprehension use markers effectively distinguish
Revisado: 09-22-22
Narrator forgets text isn’t available and ignores the need for marking one part of description from another and worse, one name from another. For example, a reader would notice and mentally add emphasis to distinguish on one royal George from another: this narrator is oblivious to the need to assist the listener in such distinctions.
I ended up checking the hard copy out from the library.

Historia
The lead homicide investigator in a rural town, Detective Sergeant Gemma Woodstock is deeply unnerved when a high school classmate is found strangled, her body floating in a lake. And not just any classmate, but Rosalind Ryan, whose beauty and inscrutability exerted a magnetic pull on Smithson High School, first during Rosalind's student years and then again when she returned to teach drama. As much as Rosalind's life was a mystery to Gemma when they were students together, her death presents even more of a puzzle.

But found the protagonist is unlikable and the story line not engaging. This is not my first book by this author. This book however is tedious.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

I chose it as escapist, predictable light storyline. Surprised that Beaton’s twist was to destroy believe that all her regency romance books have sweet endings.
Do skip this one. It’s ending is unexpected and sad & depressing.

Entertaining light romance written in 1980s about the 19th century
Revisado: 11-13-21
Voicing various characters in challenging, so I disagree that the narrator was not up to the job..
While there were a few seconds where a listener might not be clear who was speaking, subsequent text by the AUTHOR’s WRITTEN word clarifies. This would be the same if I were reading a page in a book.
The author tries to show some awareness racism, imperialism, and sexism in a story she wrote mainly to be escapist entertainment. I winced at the scenes of affection as they reflected the perspective of a different time. I liked it overall because i just wanted something light to listen to ad I washed the car.
