A storyline that keeps on giving.
Revisado: 10-10-24
I often leave reviews for books that I’ve listened to on audible. Usually, my reviews are something simple like “I loved this book” or “great narrator”.
This book leaves me speechless. It was so good. There were so many times in this book that I thought the author could have been done writing and I would’ve been satisfied. And then the story continues just gets better and better.
The narration is stellar! I will look for more books by this author and this narrator.
I would recommend this book to just about anyone! There is some profanity here and there throughout the book, but it’s just part of the story and easily overlooked.
I can honestly say my only regret about this book is that it had to end at some point. I kept hoping it would go on forever, but of course it just doesn’t work that way

Historia
By any serious measurement, best-selling historian Kevin Phillips argues, William McKinley was a major American president. It was during his administration that the United States made its diplomatic and military debut as a world power. McKinley was one of eight presidents who, either in the White House or on the battlefield, stood as principals in successful wars, and he was among the six or seven to take office in what became recognized as a major realignment of the U.S. party system.

Plenty of facts; but noticeably short on anecdotal stories.

The narrator did an excellent job with what he had to work with. This book reads like a college level textbook.

Good story and narration

A few chapters in,I figured this story would be very predictable. But I was thrilled to find out otherwise. Plenty of twists and turns to keep me on edge.

Historia
In the autumn of 1558, church bells across England ring out the joyous news that Elizabeth I is the new queen, yet one woman hears the tidings with utter dread. She is Amy Dudley, wife of Sir Robert, and she knows Elizabeth’s ambitious leap to the throne will draw her husband back to the center of the glamorous Tudor court, where he was born to be. Elizabeth has inherited a bankrupt country where treason is rampant and foreign war a certainty. Her advisors warn her that she will survive only if she marries a strong prince to govern the rebellious country. She desires Robert Dudley.

Great book lots of interesting stories

I really enjoyed this book. My only reservation about it is that the timeline jumps around. You have to really pay attention to dates or it can get confusing.
