I really enjoyed this inspiring story. It’s one of those stories where you experience love, loss, and belonging. A beautiful young girl is born of a black slave mother and a loving white father who takes care of if her until he dies when she is only a young girl. Her stepmother sells her off and this is where the story really begins. No spoilers here. You’ll have to read to find out what happens to Jennette Bevin.

Great historical fiction story about World War II and the Holocaust. Reit did a great job describing all the characters and made me feel right in the midst of the story from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Shipwreck, Death and Survival

First of all the performance of the narrator was “top notch” and kept me interested in what he had to say. If I had read this book I’m not sure I would have gotten through it. There was so much to absorb and remember. Grann made this story of the British naval ship HMS Wager come to life. His description of the crew’s day to day survival was like listening to an adventure story only this one really happened. I didn’t know anything about this story and was surprised by the outcome of the survivors at the end. I would recommend this book.

Family in crises

While I enjoyed the storyline I didn’t enjoy how Mia, who does the narration, went on and on about subject matter that could have been said in a few sentences. Sometimes she was a bit boring. Take that out and you have a story that is impactful and insightful about a family in crisis. The twists and turns of the psychological and sociological problems are intense and intimidating leaving the reader with endless questions to the very end.

It was a very long walk home.

A very descriptive storyline and I really liked the characters. Set in beautiful Wales, the author made me feel I was right there enjoying the countryside while staying at the bed and breakfast. A beautiful love story, wonderfully warm and sensitive. the ending was perfect. I recommend this quick and fun read.

Loved it!!!

Both my grandson and I loved this short story. We listened to it on a short road-trip we took together today. The performance was great as were the descriptions of the characters especially the dragon. I really liked the fact that the dragon was more interested in poetry than fighting battles. Left me with a smile on my face.

Not A Very Merry Christmas

Took me a while to get into this story. Had to listen to the first couple of chapters twice. I just seem to have a hard time understanding and following. By the time I got to Chapter 7 I finally started to enjoy the book.

Unbelievable Hilarious

This book was unbelievably hilarious and a wee bit creepy. This was one of the best performances I have listen to on Audible in a long time. I really like this book because of its many twists and turns. Such a FUN story.
