The narrator is very good, as always. This series is definitely not as good as the Hornblower or Brewer books. This book is more about Hawaiian history and missionaries. The title should have been about that since the sea action was less than 5% of the book. If you want some ship to ship action, skip this one. I wish I had.

Slow start, good ending

The start of the book, like many sci-if, require a period of learning the vocabulary. But that aside, it took nearly the entire book to finally start getting some arc to the story.
That said, the ending really took flight and left me looking forward to the next.
The performance was very good. The speaker intoned the different characters well, without being annoying/over-dramatization. I

The book spends so much of its time on introspection and teenage level worrying. For a book meant to be about struggle and war, it has almost no action. Then, when it does it is brief and uncreative. I would love to get my time and money back.
