AnamThubten, in remarkably easy-to-understand language, provides teachings for doing exactly that, based on the wisdom of the Buddhist traditions. He illuminates the path of going beyond the misconceptions of the ego to experience the reality of our true nature, which is already enlightened. Simple practical insights
Revisado: 02-11-16
This is one of the best books on the middle way and awakening that I've ever read. It's simplicity and straight to the point approach ensures you understand the concepts immediately.
Fred is indeed Stella once more and if that man isn't enlightened after all the books of this nature he's narrated, I'd be amazed. He reads like he wrote the material himself.
If I could only recommend one book from my reading list this would almost certainly be it. First equal perhaps with "The Untethered Soul" by Michael A. Singer and "The Four Agreements" by Miguel Ruiz.

Wanting
Revisado: 01-18-16
I can understand how these teachings would be useful to those just starting their journey. If you are well versed in Eastern philosophy and thought however, you might struggle to gain anything insightful from this audio. The narrator has a silky soothing style that's deeply relaxing. In terms of real substance however, the content barely scratches the surface and I became frustrated by the lack of useful insights.

Patronizing
Revisado: 05-11-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I suspect this is a great course for somebody who knows nothing about writing. It feels as though this is the assumption made by the lecturer, so the material comes across in far too a simplistic way that is difficult to invest in.
What could The Great Courses and Tilar J J. Mazzeo have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Provide something that assumes the students have at least some background in academic or professional writing. At a minimum that their interest in writing stems from a reading background.
How could the performance have been better?
Present the information in a far less condescending manner. Assume the audience are at least in the twenties or older, versus a class of first graders.
Could you see Writing Creative Nonfiction being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
This is an irrelevant question.
Any additional comments?
I have listened to numerous great courses, and they have been of exceptional standard and quality. This course makes me realize I need to read the reviews a little more carefully.

Not an entire waste
Revisado: 05-20-14
Would you try another book from Harry W. Carpenter and/or Matt Stone?
I felt the book was a bit of a struggle with the style of narration. Great for Tom Sawyer, not entirely suitable for the material presented in this book. The author provided some interesting ideas but the narration really distracted from the material in places.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have preferred the guided meditation and exercises to have been presented in a separate section. Many were good, but when you're driving and the like it's quite disruptive having to pause, bookmark, then find time to do the exercises later.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I found the narrator most irritating when attempting to mimic voices of people being quoted. Were this a Mark Twain story it would be spot on. As it is in many places the narrator lacked the gravity one would anticipate.
Any additional comments?
Overall the material itself is mostly worthwhile. I felt some of the ideas and concepts presented lacked a certain amount depth. This was sufficiently compensated by worthwhile ideas and useful exercises.
Not quite the be all and end all of subconscious thought the author and some reviewers make out, but certainly worth consideration in a wider context.

Fear is the source of all of the negative agreements we've made with life. It can alienate us from the joy that is our birthright. When we are able to look at our lives without fear or judgments, we realize that reality can be whatever we want it to be. Beyond Fear leads seekers of the Toltec way of freedom and joy on their spiritual journey into a state of empowerment.

Confused
Revisado: 04-11-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Although this book presents some interesting ideas, it struck me as a mishmash of different philosophies from a number of cultures infused with a New Age Christian perspective. If anything, it confuses the very simple straight forward concepts presented in Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Has Beyond Fear turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrators?
Yes, the narration was fine.

Invaluable message
Revisado: 01-21-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It's unfortunate others have been so critical of the narration as it's quite acceptable if you actually listen. I'm so glad I ignored those reviews and took notice of the ones saying how good the actual content was.
Even if you've read a lot of other material on the self, inner peace etc, I personally feel this book has a valuable message and perspective to add to that. I actually like the narrators style. He brings care and emotion to the content. I have no idea what others were expecting. It's all a matter of perspective and expectation I guess.
Extremely worthwhile download.
What did you like best about this story?
The clear insightful message and guidance on looking within and learning how to heal your psyche.
What about Peter Berkrot’s performance did you like?
He brings emotion and understanding to this material contrary to others opinions. Come at this with an open mind and focus on the content. If you actually listen, the audio drop off others mentioned is just part of his style and if you tune into the content rather than the delivery you shouldn't have any problems.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Untethered Soul?
First and foremost letting go of everything. All those trivial things in everyday life that block you from just getting on and enjoying it.
