Amazing compassion
Revisado: 06-07-24
How does one find joy they can sing about when they daily interact with such poverty and illness? Julie has such a humble heart that knows the kindness of God and shared His values about every human life. A story beautifully told.

Historia
Sixteen years ago, Juli Boit, a 25-year-old nurse practitioner, moved from Los Angeles to a small village in Kenya to be a part of an HIV program. In 2009, she founded a hospice called Kimbilio where men, women, and children come either to heal or to be loved until they die. On an ordinary Friday afternoon in 2016, a three-pound baby boy, Ryan, wrapped in pink was brought to Kimbilio. He had been born prematurely earlier that week. His mom passed away while giving birth, and neighbors miraculously kept Ryan alive on water alone for five days until they brought him to the hospice.

Absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down. Really appreciated the author as reader especially when she sang or spoke in Swahili. The story opened my eyes to hardship of the disease and cure. It also encouraged about love & community. This book is a must read. It makes this world a better place.

Historia
The body is where our instincts reside and where we fight, flee, or freeze, and it endures the trauma inflicted by the ills that plague society. In this groundbreaking work, therapist Resmaa Menakem examines the damage caused by racism in America from the perspective of body-centered psychology. He argues this destruction will continue until Americans learn to heal the generational anguish of white supremacy, which is deeply embedded in all our bodies.

loved this eye opening book
Revisado: 10-28-20
After reading another book about how our body as well as mind and soul are impacted by trauma I wanted to learn more about how to effectively deal with that pain. My Grandmother's Hands provided that and so much more insight. I highly recommend this book.

Really enjoyed Melinda Gates reading her own work. You could hear her heart through her voice while sharing the importance of scientific research and listening skills. It lifted me up as well.

Great book to help with my last frontier of chaos, my office, the place where things get dumped while I'm keeping other parts of my house & life in order. I have hope for the process to reclaim this black hole!
