Despite my rather snarky title, my overall thoughts on this masterful work of fiction are much less so.
The lives of four long time best friends who met in college and grew into adulthood together doesn't sound like a riveting plot line, yet this book held my attention until the final word was spoken.
Beautifully crafted by the author and even more beautifully performed by the masterful reader - there were instances throughout the story where I thought to myself "I cannot continue without the aid of a support group."
Yet, I did and I was rewarded time and time again by the sheer humanity and at times commonality of the tale.
If you're considering this book - please be cognizant of the fact that it is not an easy read/listen. It will challenge you. It will enrage you. It will make you cry. On rare and much needed occasions, it will make you smile. Best of all, this book will provoke thought, consideration, remembrance and best of all gratitude. So, be brave and be prepared for "A Little Life" if only for a tiny bit will resonate with the imperfect human in all of us.

and a thought provoking week long peek into the lives of 3 exceptional residents.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although I cannot imagine possessing the means, education or remarkable talent/skill that would allow me the privilege of making my home and profession in NYC, the story resonated with me. Affluence, breeding along with a highly compensated career don't necessarily produce a joyful carefree life do they? Everyone struggles with their past & future from time to time. Everyone experiences the best of times and the worst of times. The level of courage required to take "that" leap of faith toward the unknown is what separates a great life from an average existence.
A sweet story - authentic characters - real emotions - failures and triumphs - joy and sorrow. No matter the place or individuals involved, The Ramblers felt true to me.
I loved the descriptions of real places in the city.
All in all, a joyful thought compelling love letter to the greatest city in the world and the human struggle common to everyone no matter where we live and love.
Thank you for this.

I enjoyed Atlas Shrugged in my 20's but had yet to experience the triumph of mediocrity for the majority vs the despair that striving for integrity & excellence can deliver to the few. Fun, fair, positive soccer. Everyone gets a trophy regardless of the level of competence displayed by the participants. It's not my fault. I don't know what to do. Huhhh?

Ayn Rand's prose can be a tad melodramatic, but then again the concepts she's attempting to illustrate through cause and effect are pretty damn dramatic aren't they?

I believe that Atlas Shrugged should be mandatory reading for every high school senior in the USA.

Thank you Ayn Rand for the work that continues to inspire me.

I enjoyed the narration very much and applaud him for his outstanding effort.
