Historia
As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves.

Dare I Say, "The Best One Yet?"
Revisado: 03-26-25
Without divulging any spoilers; Suzanne Collins does it again, I had the book and Audible going at the same time because when I had to physically put down the book, I still needed to know what happened next. The performance was great, the story kept me enthralled and I couldn't stop reading and listening until the end. Now that I have finished, I feel the need to read it again because it was so well written and answered so many lingering questions we had from previous books, especially Catching Fire. I can only hope we get Finnick's story next because no one can tell a story and captivate us like Suzanne Collins and The Hunger Games. Five stars, highly recommend, definitely going to read again and again like the previous four books.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Honest & Endearing
Revisado: 04-01-24
As I listened to one of my favorite childhood stars tell of her life, my heart ached not realizing how much she struggled with behind the scenes. The more I listened the more proud of JM I became, her ability to overcome adversity created by a narcissistic, abusive parent and come out stronger is motivating. Her ability to forgive and still be able to say she loves and misses her mom in the end but still knows that she's better off without her is inspiring. I highly recommend this book - it is worth the read and listen.
