Merely gaining levels and having a higher cultivation isn’t enough to pass the eighth realm’s test into the ninth realm. Find your truth, understand your reason; only then can you pass the eighth realm. It might be Erik and Rugrat’s hardest challenge yet.

Love it, just so much shorter than the others
Revisado: 06-10-22
Everything I love about this series was here, the character development, growth, interactions. Story arc was decent, information about the reality of the 10 realms just dropped, no unraveling of the truth.
My biggest critique is that the book was 1/2 to 1/3 of any of the other books. Hopefully the ninth realm doesn’t feel as rushed.

Historia
For eight millennia, the Pans of the Great Self have protected the powers of creation and the continuity of reality. As the first child Pan in millennia, Peter fights for life in a firestorm of personal and political power struggles. Trapped on a remote, man-eating island with his pixie attaché, Tinker Belle, he races to find his missing parents, build an army of bestial children, and fight off a desperate psychic bent on taking his powers for a virulent, transcontinental insurgency.

An adult take on a classic story
Revisado: 06-23-21
Emphasis on ADULT take - it involves some of the worst behavior of human beings. However, it drives the characters and the story. It is not used for shock value or to fluff the adultness of the tale.
The author definitely put time into the structure of the story but took the extra step of getting of the mind of each character. Peter's singular focus and idolization of his father, refusing to see him as anything but THE Pan until confronted with the truth and even then . . . Toodles is a lovable character with the innocence of a child and the resolve of a titan. Even the villains are tragically flawed, their minds driving their actions to ruin.
The performance was excellent and consistent, one of those narrators (yes it's the author) you could imagine reading your favorite books. This is a book I will remember, I will talk about, I will read and listen to again. Can't wait for the next !!
