Historia
Ponyboy can count on his brothers. And on his friends. But not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up "greasers" like Ponyboy. At least he knows what to expect, until the night someone takes things too far.

Teenagers in the 1960’s coming of age in a world where economic identity defines social standing
Revisado: 05-22-23
This a great American story about being a teenager. Having come from the rough side of the tracks myself, it always hit a nerve with me. I read the book 30 years ago and decided to listen to audio version to see if it holds up. It does. The narrator though, he reads the story okay, but his voice and cadence pulled me away from the story.

This book needs an editor.
Revisado: 03-29-23
The biggest issue with this book is the massive over use of unnecessary dialogue and / or action tags. Whenever a character says or does anything, the action is immediately followed with exposition that retells what was just done or said.
The author uses too many different verbs to follow dialogue when said or asked would work better because, like the overused adverb dialogue tags, the author often uses words that don’t seem to be appropriate for the specific dialogue because the author is trying to force different words simply for the sake of doing so.
There are many cases where the author builds up to a change of story direction and, when there is already a good setup to do this naturally, the author avoids using the natural option and makes up unnatural and awkward reasons for the story to change direction.

Most people think the way to write a best seller is to have a lot of talent and even more luck. As you will learn, there is a recipe for success, and luck may be the least important ingredient in creating a best seller. No one has cracked the code better than James Scott Bell. A best-selling author himself, and the author of the number-one best seller for writers, Plot & Structure, Mr. Bell has been teaching the principles of best-selling fiction for over 20 years, principles that apply to any genre or style.

Got scammed by Audible
Revisado: 09-18-20
I paid for this but then, when trying to download, I get a message that says it is no longer included in my membership. I have tried repeatedly to get this situation worked out with customer service but have had no success at reaching customer service via phone and emails won’t go through. Not happy!

Slow down

The narrator reads so fast, jumping through topics without pause, that the material ends up meshing together.

No useful strategies for memory development
Revisado: 04-02-15
Would you try another book from William Walker Atkinson and/or Steven Benjamin?
Neither.
What could William Walker Atkinson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The book focused more on examples of people with exceptional memories rather than giving strategies to develop memory. The strategies that were given all followed the basic ideals we are taught from childhood. The whole book can be summed up with visualize and repetition, nothing ground breaking.
Would you be willing to try another one of Steven Benjamin’s performances?
The narrator was clearly trying to read through the book as quickly as possible. I caught my mind wandering off constantly when I am someone that usually gets pulled deeply into audiobooks, even self development books.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
A very few new ways of thinking about old ideas.
Any additional comments?
I wasted my money.
