The one thing I hate about this is that it ended
Revisado: 10-20-23
This particular book could have gone on for 40 more hours and I would have consumed it with the same voracity. I lied in the title of my review. I have two regrets. 1. Is that this book has an ending at all. 2. Is that it was not available for me a year ago when I moved to Japan.
Good news though. If you like this book. The author has a podcast called Abroad in Japan and also a Youtube channel to continue to consume.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Emotional rollercoaster - personal top five
Revisado: 11-16-22
This audiobook is amazing. I can't even imagine how to read this without the audio dramatization and character voices.
The story had me so riveted I am emotionally distraught that this book had to end.

Historia
In a time when our political and cultural views feel more polarized than ever, Tyson provides a much-needed antidote to so much of what divides us, while making a passionate case for the twin chariots of enlightenment—a cosmic perspective and the rationality of science. After thinking deeply about how science sees the world and about Earth as a planet, the human brain has the capacity to reset and recalibrates life’s priorities, shaping the actions we might take in response. No outlook on culture, society, or civilization remains untouched.

Historia
Bill and Penelope are the lucky ones. Not only do they survive the Shark Flu emerging from the melting Icelandic permafrost to sweep like a scythe across the world, but they begin to rebuild a life in the wreckage of the old. A garden to feed themselves planted where the lawn used to be, a mattress pulled down to the living room fireplace for warmth. Even Bill’s psychology practice endures the collapse of the social order, the handful of remaining clients bartering cans of food for their sessions.

Riveting interview
Revisado: 07-04-22
This interview gave me a fresh perspective on someone who came up through the ranks to some very difficult and challenging foreign service officer positions. I appreciated Mr. Davis' explanations and humility when discussing difficult times in his career as well as his views on leadership. This interview inspires me to look further into a career with the State Department.

thought provoking
Revisado: 10-07-20
Sanjay does an excellent job in articulating this difficulty of being a parent while the world has shutdown and deadly viruses loom on the horizon of every news broadcast and newspaper headline.
Dr. Gupta talks readers through the trials and tribulations, but also gives practical food for thought of how to insulate your children from physiological harm during this trying time Nd build lasting resiliency.
