Historia
An essential exploration of why and how women's sexuality works - based on groundbreaking research and brain science - that will radically transform your sex life into one filled with confidence and joy. Researchers have spent the last decade trying to develop a "pink pill" for women to function like Viagra does for men. So where is it? Well, for reasons this book makes crystal clear, that pill will never exist - but as a result of the research that's gone into it, scientists in the last few years have learned more about how women's sexuality works than we ever thought possible.

Historia
Before she became the first transgender person to speak at a national political convention in 2016 at the age of twenty-six, Sarah McBride struggled with the decision to come out—not just to her family but to the students of American University, where she was serving as student body president. She’d known she was a girl from her earliest memories, but it wasn’t until the Facebook post announcing her truth went viral that she realized just how much impact her story could have on the country.

Historia
When 12-year-old Nick runs away from his uncle's in the middle of a blizzard, he stumbles onto a very opinionated bookstore. He also meets its guardian, the self-proclaimed Evil Wizard Smallbone, who calls Nick his apprentice and won't let him leave but won't teach him magic, either. It's a good thing the bookstore takes Nick's magical education in hand, because Smallbone's nemesis - the Evil Wizard Fidelou - and his pack of shape-shifting bikers are howling at the borders.

American mythmaking at its best!
Revisado: 01-19-17
If Steven King and Neil Gaiman set out to write Harry Potter, this is where they would end up.
The narration is excellent, the story and setting engaging, and it flies by. Great car trip material, especially with kids.

Great worldbuilding and a ton of adventure. It's shame that Hayao Miyazaki is retired; this would make one hell of an anime!

Fold after fold after fold
Revisado: 07-24-16
This novel takes every scrap of information, every kernel of plot, and folds it back into itself. Nothing is wasted, and every thematic element has a prismatic effect on the narrative, letting you see these characters from every angle.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

If you can get past the chauvinism, it's great!
Revisado: 06-04-16
The main character is the chauvinistic conservative version of a Mary Sue. The period setting seems to be a cover for the author's own prejudices. Past that, decent writing and a cool magic system.

...was there supposed to be a plot?
Revisado: 06-03-16
It was definitely a lot of fun, and I will probably read the next one, but the plot lingered between a spy novel and a WoW Let's Play. Also, it should be noted that there's a certain degree of classical chauvinism (eg. female characters have no agency outside of their male counterparts).

Historia
Mary Robinette Kowal stunned readers with her charming first novel, Shades of Milk and Honey, a loving tribute to the works of Jane Austen in a world where magic is an everyday occurrence. This magic comes in the form of glamour, which allows talented users to form practically any illusion they can imagine. Shades debuted to great acclaim and left readers eagerly awaiting its sequel. Glamour in Glass continues following the lives of beloved main characters Jane and Vincent, with a much deeper vein of drama and intrigue.

The fantasy novel you’ve always wished Jane Austen had written. When Jane realizes that one of Melody’s suitors is set on taking advantage of her sister for the sake of her dowry, she pushes her skills to the limit of what her body can withstand in order to set things right—and, in the process, accidentally wanders into a love story of her own.

A wonderful novel with vivid characters and fascinating magic within an austere framework. It deserves all of those adjectives I just used.
Note: the accent was slightly jarring after listening to Writing Excuses, but it's not distracting after a few minutes.
