Don't know what to think

The hot scenes were sizzling. Penn took my breath away. Via was so fun to hate. Daria though... I didn't like her. I'm glad she had her transformation, and her story is a good one, she just whined too much and it was hard to root for her.

Lackluster

The story moved along well enough. The romantic scenes were heartwarming, the tense scenes were well written. Even so, it lacked the sense of adventure and drama that I loved in the first series. The conflict was a kiddie pool compared to America's and Maxim's conflicts in "The Selection." it paled significantly in comparison. Also, there was not enough foreshadowing throughout book one and two to justify her final choice in my opinion.

Left Me Feeling Annoyed

Disappointing

The story dragged on and on! Each time something happened, something that should have been a significant plot point, I was left thinking "That's it???" The characters were flat and stale. The only one I found interesting was the Duchess. The love story seemed forced, non-organic. Lucian's character was annoying because there wasn't enough there to let me know what to make of him. I couldn't emotionally connect with anyone! It's a shame because the idea is interesting, but it was poorly executed.
The narration was ok overall, but left much to be desired. There were little changes for the different character voices. Only the duchess's was clear.
I am going to read the next book simply because the very last paragraph had me wondering what a certain someone is up to, but I don't have high expectations.
I would recommend this as an aide for people who struggle to fall asleep.

great story, terrible narrator

I really enjoyed this story. It was a bit predictable, but it was very well told. It was difficult to get used to the narrator's unusual inflections. She read almost every sentence with a dramatic tone. I wish I had just bought the book instead of audio. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and I'm certain I will enjoy it in its printed format as I did the first one.
