Historia
Detective Bill Quigley fell in love with the familiar Isaac the night they met. But after more than two years, it’s time to admit to himself that Isaac doesn’t return his feelings. Isaac knows he’s too broken by his experiences for anyone to fall in love with. Especially someone like Bill, who deserves a partner unplagued by Isaac’s nightmares and doubts. When children go missing from an orphanage, Bill and Isaac must work together to find them. And as years of yearning threaten to ignite into passion, they must decide once and for all whether to take a chance on love.

More serious and grim but just as good
Revisado: 05-06-20
Hexworld master plot had always been dark and serious; on the previous books the MCs allowed a lighter, more humorous breaks here and there (especially Rook, Cicero and Malachi). We rarely get such a reprieve here. Nevertheless, I loved this book. As usual, the historical descriptions felt authentic and the mystery/crime plot was very well structured. The romance is a bit different from the previous books (in a good way) - the heroes are kept apart due to their self-doubts and low self esteem rather than dark secrets or conflicting obligations. I've found the description of Isaac's struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder both realistic and touching, and sometimes inspiring. Bill was a favorite long before this book, obviously; here he exposed a more vulnerable and insecure side. Wish we had more verbal swordplay between him and Malachi, though.

Historia
Carter isn't sure what to call his two alien protectors. Friends? Boyfriends? Mates? Or merely indiscriminate lovers with sexy purrs and tangling tails? He would be lost without them, he knows that. When their home is invaded by a dangerous new kind of alien slaver, they strike out into the jungle. He depends on them for food, protection, a direction to walk in. He's helpless even for shelter and warmth. Thankfully, his alien lovers seem devoted, but why?

Even better than the first book
Revisado: 04-13-19
We continue to follow the struggles and challenges that Pykh, Siel and Carter face as they escape from their captivity and learn more about each other and the planet they are surviving in. The gradual building of the aliens culture and history is masterfully done, but it's the characters' loyalty and devotion to each other (and their sense of humor, especially Carter's) that are the winning qualities of the series. Looking forward for a sequel. Especially since the book ends in cliff hanger.
The narrator continues to do excellent job, which was especially challenging here due to the mis-translations sounds.

Historia
It's all a matter of opinion, but Carter's day is going pretty badly. He's an engineer captured by bug aliens, now depending on his large, muscled, naked cage mates for food and warmth. They seem sentient, so that's good. But they're also handsy. Which is...complicated. The military isn't looking for him. Slaves taken by the bug race never come back. Yet, Carter is very much alive, and if he wants to stay that way, he'll need to trust Pykh and Siel, two affectionate aliens with claws, teeth, and size.

Unique story telling approach, wonderful MCs
Revisado: 04-13-19
Usually in romance/m-m sci-fi, the human-alien communication barrier is completely ignored. There are auto-translators or universal languages. Sometimes authors don't even bother to explain how different species understand each other, probably due to a reasoning that the focus of the story is elsewhere. Eileen Glass does not ignore the communication barrier - rather, she uses it very effectively to build a story from three different point of views who can not understand each other fully (even the two aliens have communication problems due to their personal history). The result is a surprisingly complex and layered narrative, in which each PoV have a unique contribution to the story. The characters are endearing, especially sweet and curious Pykh, and the pace of the plot is intense. The book does have several truly disturbing descriptions of abuse in alien captivity, but overall, a very recommended listening (the performance is excellent, by the way. The three different PoV have each a unique voice and accent and there's no problem distinguishing between the three).

A ghost story in its natural format
Revisado: 08-10-18
I've already read the book before and loved it, so there were no surprises here. Anyone looking for an excellent ghost story with M-M romance elements should look no further than the Spirits series. Audio is the natural format for a ghost story and had I not known the plot beforehand I'd probably jump on my seat many times.
My only issue with the audiobook was that the narrator talked a little bit too fast for me sometimes (English is not my native language).
Hopefully the next volumes would come out in audio too.
