I loved this story. thís is the 2nd time I have listened to it
Revisado: 08-03-24
I loved thís story, this is the second time I hàve listened to it. Rebeçca does a marvelous job of creating her characters. I would like to say that I am disappointed that the books in the Spinster series are so slow in coming out or perhaps I should say beíng available on aúdible. I want to read the stories of all the spinsters! but so far only two are on aúdible even thoúgh it appears that they have been written. why is that? I have enjóyed both Georgie and prudence's stories. I am looking forward to Izzy's and all the rest. This narrator is wonderful as well. If you are waiting for her availability I can understand.

Historia
Sir John Penlyon is planning to spend Christmas at his estate with his niece and his friend Danby, the closest thing he has to family since disowning his daughter years ago. (She eloped with the parson, who was, of course, penniless.) Danby suggests that at Christmastime the estate needs the presence of small children, and offers to find some - the “hirelings” - despite Sir John’s skepticism. Three children duly arrive, and the youngest, precocious four year-old Moppet, quickly endears herself to Sir John.

I Loved the story and the reader! I read it for our sisters bookclub and truly enjoyed it. IT is classic, reminiscent of my favorite authors of the 1800s, yet I had never heard of this author before. Thank you for making it available for listening . My eyes are not what they once were so my books are now audible but I still love the old classics the best. They have a great presence and serve to elevate the mind. When finished and you leave that fictional world the world around you seems a little bit brighter and full of possibilities.

Historia
In the wideopen landscape of Pennsylvania, Charlotte Martin and her father live a peaceful life on their farm... or so it seems. In truth, the rural locale provides the perfect front for the father/daughter NSA operatives as they expertly carry out their mission: using a high-tech computer system, they protect a team of undercover agents. Some would kill to have access to this system, and it makes Charlotte and her father prime targets.

Great story and performance. Clean and suspenseful. A great read! This is my first from this author but it won't be my last. It is so nice to find someone whose work stands on its own without depending on sex, innuendo, and foul language to attract a readership. It has been my goal to find such authors. My sister found this one and shared with me. Thank you Traci Abramson for sharing your talent with us!

Historia
Elizabeth Black is the headmistress of a girls' school in 1830s Victorian London. She is also a well-respected author of stories written both for and about the upper-class ladies of Victorian society. But by night, she writes very different kinds of stories - the Penny Dreadfuls that are all the rage among the working-class men. Under the pseudonym Charles King, Elizabeth has written about dashing heroes fighting supernatural threats, intelligent detectives solving grisly murders, and dangerous outlaws romancing helpless women.

Third time listening. Still great! I tend to listen to books I have read or listened to before while I am doing the tedious parts of illustrating. Love this penny dreadful series, have to go back to it ever so often.

but good story. I did get frustrated with the narrator because she was so loud in many parts and so quick and quiet in others that I missed what was being said. it was very aggravating. but the story addressed and worked through difficult things with grace and insight which I appreciated.
