Historia
May 1912. After the previous year’s deadly heatwave, it’s been an uneventful spring in Littleton Cotterell. Though for Lady Hardcastle and her fiercely loyal lady’s maid Flo, at least there are the provincial delights of the village’s inaugural art exhibition—and bicycle race—to look forward to. But at the exhibition opening, there’s a panicked shout of ‘Fire!’ In the confusion, the main attraction—an extremely expensive book—is stolen from under everyone’s nose, as is a valuable painting lent by Sir Hector Farley-Stroud.

Siobhán O'Sullivan's hopes for a quiet Irish Christmas are dashed when the local Santa turns up dead in a carnival dunk tank of hot cocoa. Not the narrator for this book
Revisado: 08-01-23
I think the story is ok - idk. The narrator was like nails on a chalkboard for me. Thoroughly distracting, not in a good way.

Historia
Known as Agent A, Alice is the top operative within the Agency of Undercover Note Takers, a secret government intelligence group that is fortunately better at espionage than at naming itself. From managing deceptive witches to bored aristocratic ladies, nothing is beyond Alice’s capabilities. She has a steely composure and a plan always up her sleeve (alongside a dagger and an embroidered handkerchief). So when rumors of an assassination plot begin to circulate, she’s immediately assigned to the case. But she’s not working alone.

More sex than substance
Revisado: 07-09-23
I love this series, but this book was disappointing. More porn than plot. More sex than substance. Elizabeth Knowelden is fantastic as always as the narrator.
The tediousness of trudging through the sexual tension finally got to me - sorry India, I didn’t finish it.

Oh gracious
Revisado: 02-16-22
The new narrator sounds like Betty White, Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and a South Jersey wise guy. The narration is terrible. I love these books - the stories are great - Davina Porter’s accents hit it the Vineyard spot on and reminds me of Katherine Hepburn. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t get through the book. I turned it off at Chapter 3.

A mysterious package, a rumor of a masterpiece, and a dangerous game of hide and seek.... Zoe loves working as a consultant for a company that specializes in art theft recovery. She comes across shady dealers and a confusion of clues as her search for the elusive painting takes her from tropical destinations to the cobblestone streets of Madrid.

Hmm
Revisado: 05-22-20
The story started getting a bit kitschy and predictable. The narrators inflection when speaking doesn’t match the words she’s saying. The audiobook chapters at the end were transposed so you actually hear the climax before the chapter leading up to it. I did not enjoy this book as much as the others, but it filled time.

Historia
It's spring in England, and location scout Kate Sharp has returned to the quaint village of Nether Woodsmoor with its lush gardens, budding hedgerows, and mellow stone cottages to work on a Jane Austen television documentary. The unique opportunity also gives her the chance to explore a possible romance with Alex, the deliciously rumpled local scout. Rumors of recently discovered Jane Austen letters stir up the production, but then tragedy strikes and a stranger dies in a fire in a village cottage. Soon it's evident that the fire wasn't an accident, but murder.

But the accents are laughable. The narrators attempt at English accents complete misses the marks. She gets Australian, South African, and an unnamed mashup of something else. Her American English is spot on.

Maire is a baker with an extraordinary gift: she can infuse her treats with emotions and abilities, which are then passed on to those who eat them. She doesn't know why she can do this and remembers nothing of who she is or where she came from. When marauders raid her town, Maire is captured and sold to the eccentric Allemas, who enslaves her and demands that she produce sinister confections, including a witch's gingerbread cottage, a living cookie boy, and size-altering cakes.

Not classic Holmberg
Revisado: 01-04-19
Disappointing is putting it mildly so I’m just going to jump in.
The twisty plot is very often difficult to follow.
The repetition of the same word three times is reminiscent of a school child trying to reach the desired word count in a book report.
The ongoing synonyms for an initial idea are nerve grating. If the reader didn’t get that the action was painful, 15 additional synonyms aren’t going to help.
The Magician Series is good.
Don’t waste your money on this one.

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

It was ok, but .....
Revisado: 03-28-18
First- Nikola is a name not a soda. The accent is on the first syllable not the second - NEEK-uh-luh.
Second- lose the profanity, it detracts from the story and the story is good. Buddies may talk to each other like that - I’ve said WTF myself - but not for such widespread public consumption as a book.
Third - you may want to consider a professional narrator. The narration “feels” like you wrote the book and have so much invested in it that it sounds a bit desperate.
You wanted honest.
