I really enjoyed the bridgerton show so I am trying desperately to like the books. overall they are a fun little romance novel, but the lack of consent is disturbing. If someone tells you no, then accept it. That doesn't mean she is playing hard to get and you should try harder until she finally gives in.

I am an OG fan from the 90s and I was thrilled to see that he is still writing. To be honest, it's not his best work, but it's hard to judge a series on the first book. There's a lot of world building that gets kind of tedious

I understand that this series started off with each brother getting their own book to tell their love story and we ran out of brothers. However, I am a little confused about the decision to keep adding new characters. I would love to check in with the original brothers every once in a while. I think that The King was well done . This book wasn't bad, but it seems like it doesn't really belong in the series.

I read this in anticipation of the new movie that is coming out soon. It's not bad, but it almost feels like I am reading the same book series as the Heaven saga, but with gumbo.

what-and I can't stress this enough- the Fred?

It's the typical Anita Blake book --- there's a bad guy, but we need to talk about our polygroup for 80% of the book before we wrap up the mystery in a couple of dozen pages. It's fine and I know how it is going to go before even starting it. What really confused me is the personality change in Rafael. For the overwhelming majority of the series, he has been the level headed, practical guy who successfully rules a group of people. Now he's an old man who is in danger of losing everything. Let's not even talk about his taste in women. Basically, it boils down to Rafael wants the good girl, but he needs the bad....kitty.

a very questionable scene

I enjoyed the book for the most part. However, there is a scene where someone is too drunk to consent. If it's not an enthusiastic "yes", then treat it as a "no". It's not okay and could trigger someone who has been assaulted.
