Try seeing things her way!
Revisado: 03-04-24
As a fellow blind person, I can’t say enough about how meaningful and significant this book is! In a book that runs just around four hours, Sammy has managed to sum up the “blind experience” with all the challenges, misconceptions, ups and downs that come with it. She demonstrates that,, as she says in the book, “Our eyes are broken, our minds aren’t.” Take a bold step and read this book to discover just how much the blind and sighted are alike. You’ll be extremely pleasantly surprised!

Historia
We may not realize it as we listen to the soundtrack of our lives through tiny earbuds, but music and all that it encompasses is disappearing all around us. In this fable-like story, three musicians from around the world are mysteriously summoned to Nashville, the Music City, to join together with Victor to do battle against the "Phasers", whose blinking "music-cancelling" headphones silence and destroy all musical sound. Only by coming together, connecting, and making the joyful sounds of immediate, "live" music can the world be restored to the power and spirit of music.

What if music told you she was dying?
Revisado: 02-25-21
At the end of his previous book, "The Music Lesson", music told Victor that she was sick and dying. Now, victor and a group of fellow musicians are called to save music, to fight for her life against forces that want music dead. It is a heroic battle in which love may do as much, if not more to save music than music itself!

Woodward, the number-one international bestselling author of Fear: Trump in the White House, has uncovered the precise moment the president was warned that the Covid-19 epidemic would be the biggest national security threat to his presidency. In dramatic detail, Woodward takes readers into the Oval Office as Trump’s head pops up when he is told in January 2020 that the pandemic could reach the scale of the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 675,000 Americans.

Wow! Powerful post-election read.
Revisado: 11-09-20
I started this book long before we knew the results of the November 3rd election. I shelved it for a while, due to numerous reasons and picked it up again after the election was called for Joe Biden. If I was relieved before finishing this book that Biden won, finishing this book doubled that relief. Thankfully, "the dynamite behind the door" has been defused. Read this book to discover why Trump has been and always will be the wrong man for the job of president.

Science fiction allows us to go places we can only dream of seeing - other worlds, distant stars, entirely different galaxies. While not every story is concerned with the hard science behind space travel and other futuristic ventures, fiction can give us amazing insight into what we could be capable of and what we dream of doing. In these 10 lectures, Professor Erin Macdonald interweaves real science and the achievements of the imagination to reveal the truth that underlies our favorite stories and sheds light on what the future may hold.

As Spock would say...fascinating!
Revisado: 10-20-20
I've always sort of wondered about the science behind things like Star Trek, etc. How much of it was based on real science and how much was made up from pure imagination. This series of lectures answers that question in a fun and interesting ways, tying it into some of the best known science fiction worlds. I highly recommend it for trekkies, fans of a time long,, long ago in a galaxy far, far away and every sci-fi fan in between!

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

The real junk?
Revisado: 04-28-19
I loved this story. Maybe it's no "hunger games" or some other YA fiction that's popular, but, despite the other revies here, it isn't junk! Personally, the real junk, in my opinion are the harsh reviews of this Audible Original. People just need to open their eys, and minds to see the real beauty in what they initially consider junk.

Historia
If you're a fan who enjoyed The Red Tent, you would most certainly enjoy this new book of biblical fiction, First Family. You may have heard the story of Adam and Eve. But, the biblical account leaves many questions unanswered. How did Eve entice Adam to eat that fateful fruit? What did God think about their disobedience? How did they figure out how to survive outside the garden? What did Eve think about being pregnant? What were Cain and Abel like as kids, and how did they get along with their parents?

How it might have been...in the beginning.
Revisado: 03-09-18
"First Family" is a wonderful, thought provoking realization of how life may well have been for Adam and Eve and their first two children, Cain and Abel. Obviously, anyone who has read the first several chapters of the book of Genesis knows what happens to Abel, but Alice Langholt builds a sense of suspense as the tragic event draws near.
The beauty of this book is in how it shows that even the first family struggled with issues we struggle with today, such as questioning if God is near us, cares for us or even exists at all. It is comforting, even from a fictionalized account, to think that even Adam and Eve had doubts, questions, as well as moments of strong, sure faith.
For those who are wondering, this book is more spiritual than religious. It tells the story without preaching or proselytizing. It's a lovely, beautiful piece of storytelling worth reading and sharing.
