Historia
A Bullet for Cinderella is one of John D. MacDonald's earlier works but nonetheless is a brilliant piece of writing. A POW in the Korean War, Tal Howard returns to find himself restless and haunted by the tale told to him by a friend who didn't make it home: a stolen fortune hidden away in the soldier's hometown with the only clue a girl named Cinderella. Tal decides to leave everything behind and go and try and find the money.

Good early MacDOnald
Revisado: 07-24-17
What made the experience of listening to A Bullet for Cinderella the most enjoyable?
Delighted to find one of the author's books that I had not already read..or heard. Good stuff.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tal...sort of an early Travis MaGee
What does Jim Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Did a good job with the reading...especially the various voices. No problem knowing who was talking.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
One very sad scene but...happy ending made up for it.
Any additional comments?
Another reader dumped on the reader. No idea why. I thought he was good.
Listen to the sample and decide for yourself.

Historia
Malcolm Carter and Ryan Boone, two New York City friends whose lives have been dominated by the financial markets, are about to exchange their charts and reports for guns and survival supplies - but not because they want to. When China and Japan decide it's time to dump US Treasury bonds, an economic nightmare plays out in America. The Federal Reserve watches helplessly as the dollar is decimated, and the resulting food shortage spreads lawlessness across the land like a virus.

Could be real
Revisado: 12-03-15
What other book might you compare Buck Out to and why?
"Wanted" by Jason..somebody...That was pretty good but much darker. These characters are much more likable and there is some hope at the end.
What about Jim Roberts’s performance did you like?
Good reader and did nice job with voices. Have not heard him until now but will put him on my list of "good ones."
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Title is fine.
Any additional comments?
This was a very good story with a terrifying premise because it seems so real. The end of civilization comes not through a super-disease or the bomb but because of a financial melt-down. Really made me think about how I might want to change my portfolio that now relies so much on the health of the US dollar.
