Excellent Story but….
Revisado: 02-06-25
I really enjoyed this book until the last few chapters. I was able to predict the relationship and the art discovery was over the top. There was a disconnect between the majority of the book and the ending.

All will be well
Revisado: 12-08-24
This book has profoundly impacted me. It grieves me that such hate, narcissism and sociopathic behavior existed then and exists today. God have mercy. However, all will be well one day.

Love, Lies and Redemption
Revisado: 09-09-24
When you know that you know that you know and do something about it, you become the change that is no needed. A beautifully written story about determination, following one’s heart and life. Performance was a bit breathy, but good story.

Historia
In the 1990s, Carter Wills was the lead singer of the English alt-rock band Mayluna, securing his place among music legends. His tortured-heart lyrics struck a chord. And so did his secret connection to a woman whose love changed all their lives. Who was she? Evie Waters’s two grown children discover an iconic photo in an old magazine of a “mystery girl” with Carter: their mother. It all started in a wistful time and place for Evie, her twenty-fifth summer.

Carmen or Evie
Revisado: 07-31-24
Interesting adventure of a woman who lived two lives. I admire Evie for being true to herself and doing what needs to be done for the children/family. The ending was so unexpected; quite enjoyable.

Historia
In weeks after the September 11 attacks, 18-year-old Mansoor Adayfi was kidnapped by Afghan militia and sold to US forces for bounty money. After months of interrogations, he was sent to the US military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, as one of its first prisoners. Like the nearly 800 other men imprisoned at Guantanamo, Adayfi didn’t know why he was imprisoned or for how long. He had never seen a skyscraper and couldn’t imagine what the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center looked like, much less how they were destroyed.

Astounding
Revisado: 07-27-24
As an American, I am ashamed at the treatment described in this book. The abuse described at Guantonomo Bay sounds just like slavery. I appreciate the resilience of the captives and the humor. An eye-opening sad book, but a story that must be told-all a part of American history like it or not.

Hotel Magic
Revisado: 07-06-24
I enjoyed this book immensely. There are so many twists and turns. I could’ve never predicted the ending nor any other part of this story-quite the adventure. The bird hotel seemed to be a place of restoration, sanctity, fresh starts and so much more. Highly recommended.

Revisado: 06-29-24
Unbelievable story. It causes me great pause because even though this took place oh so many years ago, i think of the US as a country on the brink of a dictatorship like that of Germany. We must choose democracy, why repeat history?

Knowing your History
Revisado: 06-27-24
Jindan’s character was strong, determined, fierce and unapologetic but still a woman which i can appreciate in a male dominated society. I also appreciate how she tried to instill the history and customs of the Sikh Empire when her son was exiled to London. I know for sure the Brits have a lot of blood on their hands after what they did to the Indians, Africans, and oh so many more.

Why Blame God
Revisado: 06-14-24
Disappointing book. Not what I was expecting. It’s troubling that folks blame God for all their problems as if they had nothing to do with it. Wanted to stray from my normal genre but wish I hadn’t.

Wonderful story about mothers and daughters. Misunderstandings occur when one assumes and conversations don’t take place. Nice to see the back stories revealed in this story and healing prevail.
