Didn’t feel like Sanderson’s usual 5+ Star work :(
Revisado: 02-08-25
What I DID like was the wrapping up of the first Stormlight Arc, and getting answers to so many mysteries and questions.
I did feel as though this book was laborious for him to write though. It didn’t feel effortless. It was preachy. It was full of LGBT themes, which some may like but it was definitely not my cup of tea. I felt as though the book lacked the sparkle that heretofore has always characterized Sanderson’s work.
Despite this, I am still a HUGE fan and am looking forward to more of his offerings in the future!

Nice story. Congested narrator.
Revisado: 10-14-24
It wasn’t my favorite Lynn Austen novel, but it was still a nice read. The narrator’s voice sounds congested and was extremely irritating.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 05-07-24
Beautiful, engaging love story! This is my favorite Francine Rivers novel yet. The characters were well-developed, and there were great moments of suspense and exasperation as the tale unfolded. I appreciated the tying up of all loose ends, too.

Good story without being too preachy.
Revisado: 05-02-24
Having read my share of Francine Rivers’ novels, I like her work but tend to like it most when her stories are less preachy and more action-based. In this novel her protagonist lives a Christian lifestyle and that speaks for itself without having to preach too much. A good balance!

A little preachier than some of her other books, but still enjoyable!
Revisado: 06-25-23
I don’t mind the inclusion of Christian themes and teachings, but when it is preached so obviously, instead of letting the storyline deliver the lesson, it gets kind of annoying.
However, I still enjoyed this tale and really like this author. The story really got good when Wesley came home, that was the most compelling part for me.

Engaging love story!
Revisado: 06-05-23
The upstairs/downstairs theme was so interesting, and made this a really engaging love story. I like that this author spins the romance so tastefully. The love scenes are thrilling without resorting to smut. I truly enjoyed this novel and am looking forward to reading more of Klassen’s work!

Couldn’t finish it
Revisado: 09-13-22
The narrators were great, I loved the southern accents. I was really hoping for a good love story but the incredible amounts of very descriptive physical intimacy kept getting in the way of my appreciating the story. I had to put it down after a few chapters. I personally prefer cleaner romantic fiction.
