Historia
In the late hours of July 22, 1991, Detective Patrick "Pat" Kennedy of the Milwaukee Police Department was asked to respond to a possible homicide. Little did he know that he would soon be delving into the dark mind of one of America's most notorious serial killers, the "Milwaukee Cannibal", Jeffrey Dahmer. Kennedy spent the next six weeks locked in an interrogation room with Dahmer. There, the killer described in lurid detail how he lured 17 young men to his apartment, where he strangled, sexually assaulted, dismembered, and in some cases, cannibalized his victims.

Historia
Ellen Boehm, a single mom from St. Louis, Missouri, appeared devoted to her children. But in reality, she was unequipped for motherhood, financially strapped, and desperate. Within a year of each other, her sons, ages two and four, died mysteriously, and Boehm's eight-year-old daughter then suffered a near-fatal mishap when a hair dryer fell into the girl's bath. While neighbors wondered how Boehm remained so calm through it all, Det. Sgt. Joseph Burgoon of St. Louis Homicide had darker suspicions.

narrator read well. he doesn't do 'voices' for each character, but still is an acceptable performance. pretty good writing. I wouldn't buy it, but as it's free, it's a good listen.

Historia
Blood in the Soil is the first book about the investigation into the shooting of Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt and his country attorney in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in 1978. But this book is not primarily about Larry Flynt, or even his shooter (the serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin), though both men are of course important characters in the story. This true account is told alternately from the perspective of Detective J. Michael Cowart and by following Franklin's life from childhood through his execution.

speed set at 1.25 helped a bunch. shows the disturbed mind of a racist who believed Mormons and the Klan were to liberal and Jesus couldn't have been anything but caucasian. serial killer who was unrepentant and proud of his cold blooded murders. entertaining listen, off you can get around the slow reader. absolutely need to turn up the playback speed!

Historia
In 1978, two corpses were discovered in the sea off Guatemala. Hooded, bound with ropes and weighted down with heavy engine parts, Chris Farmer and his girlfriend Peta Frampton were thrown from a yacht on which they had been crewing. This is the gripping account of how Chris's family painstakingly gathered evidence against the boat's Californian skipper, Silas Duane Boston, working alongside the FBI, Interpol, and police in the UK and the USA. Almost four decades later in 2015, there was a major breakthrough in the case when, using Facebook, Chris's sister Penny tracked Boston down.

good listen! some parts I zoned out, but most of the book was wonderful! pretty enjoyable, although frustrating! the poor families. Boston was a waste of air and space, but thankfully his son was not.

if I didn't know this was a true crime novel, I would think it was satire. If you exchange 'Dr Stone" with 'Donald Trump' you would think they were talking about a stolen election!
this book was compelling and informative. the rapist is such a vile narcissist. his supporters blame the victims. their delusional existence, and blatant denial of the facts, are rage inducing!
yes, there is a substantial portion of the book that consists mainly of trial transcripts and court proceedings. they are necessary to convey the scope of the crimes and what the jury heard to decide on their verdict

Historia
Don Miller was quiet and reserved. As a former youth pastor, he seemed a devout Christian. No one would have ever suspected that the recent graduate of the Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice was a serial killer. However, when Miller was arrested for the attempted murder of two teenagers in 1978, police quickly realized he was probably responsible for the disappearances of four women. Offered a still-controversial plea bargain, he led police to the bodies of the missing women. Now, after 40 years in prison, Miller has served his time.

the narrator was good, but the story didn't leave much for him to work with. there's not much emotion, conflict or suspense. would make a better paper back. the writing was good. seemed like he translated the police reports and trial transcripts.

Historia
Fred and Rose West are virtually unique in British criminal history: a husband and wife who loved and killed together. During their long relationship, the Wests murdered a series of young women, burying the remains of nine victims under their home at 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester, including those of their daughter. What was left of Fred West's eight-year-old stepdaughter was dug up from under the Wests' previous Gloucester home; his first wife and nanny were buried in open country.

Historia
In the Name of the Children gives an unflinching look at what it's like to fight a never-ending battle against an enemy far more insidious than terrorists: the predators, lurking amongst us, who seek to harm our children. During his 30-year career with the FBI, Jeff Rinek worked hundreds of investigations involving crimes against children: from stranger abduction to serial homicide to ritualized sexual abuse. Those who do this kind of work are required to plumb the depths of human depravity, to see things no one should ever have to see - and once seen can never forget.

it's good
Revisado: 06-29-21
if you can get past the narrator, it's a great story. it almost feels like an apology to his family, more than an account of his experience. I don't usually, but I cried a few times. His dog dying (nothing bad happens to the dog, just his time to go) and the author taking about thoughts of suicide both got to me. the cases are heart wrenching, and they're told very well. worth a listen!
I wouldn't spend money or a credit, because of the narrator. please listen to the sample! if you can stand it, do it. I did, and I may again!

Historia
Albert Fish held the genuine belief that the murders he committed were upon instruction from God. Peter Stumpp, who started practicing the "wicked arts" from 12 years of age, was convinced he was a werewolf. There are many more murderous individuals like them. Supernatural Serial Killers explores the association between serial killers and the supernatural. The crimes committed by these men and women usually involved sexual deviance, cannibalism, and violence toward children.

Revisado: 06-26-21
interesting and varied. goes over 16 serial killers from all over the world. each subject had their own chapter. pretty good in my opinion.
narrator was a good choice, but once or twice the accent he used sounded more Boston than Brazilian or Eastern lol. didn't ruin anything, or subtract from the narrative. the accent is only used when quoting directly for one or two sentences.
I was pleased with the variety. I had not heard of a few of these murderers. worth the credit!
