So many characters and story lines! The first time I listened to it most of my concentration was spent trying to remember characters and the sub-story of each. Upon finishing the book, I immediately listened to it again. Very good story! Can't wait for the sequel!

In this Audible Exclusive production, Academy Award® nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) narrates one of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Sense and Sensibility. In this timeless tale of misguided romance and heartbreak, two teenage heroines must overcome the pitfalls of Georgian England’s high society in order to achieve the love and happiness they seek. The admiration that Pike has for Austen’s work is shown clearly through this passionate delivery of Austen’s first published novel.

Jane A -- enough said
Revisado: 07-02-22
If you love happy endings and struggles of the heart told by someone with a slyly applied acid wit and a feminist mind (for the late 1700s/early 1800s), you cannot go wrong with Jane.

Historia
Frances Hodgson Burnett published The Making of a Marchioness in 1901. She had written Little Lord Fauntleroy 15 years before and would write The Secret Garden in 10 years' time; it is these two books for which she is best known. Yet Marchioness was one of Nancy Mitford's favourite books, was considered 'the best novel Mrs Hodgson Burnett wrote' by Marghanita Laski, and is taught on a university course in America together with novels such as Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Daisy Miller.

Not PC by today's standards, but a lovely Manchester Park + Northanger Abbey-esque novel. Easy read.

Historia
More than a decade has passed since William, Duke of Normandy, defeated the English at the Battle of Hastings and was crowned king of England on Christmas Day 1066. Still faced with insurrection, both here in England and in his native Normandy, a perpetual threat to William’s authority was his half brother, Odo, Bishop of Bayeux, Earl of Kent, and serial plotter against his king. Odo is about to commission a work of art depicting the events leading up to the conquest and the great battle itself.

let down
Revisado: 06-27-21
This book was interesting and enjoyable -- until the end. The ending was too pat. It did not explain sufficiently why Mirabo happened or why Thibeau happened (I am being vague to avoid being a spoiler). Everything ended up being wrapped in a quick, neat little box that was quick, flat, and trite. The ending felt as if, after such a long and involved story, the author was tired of writing so he ended it as quickly as possible.

Enjoyable read. Too much detailed sex.
Though we do not know if Ms. Lawrence's imaginings of Matilda's personality are true, certain facts that are available substantiate much of her drawing of the character.

interesting story that held my attention; however, Mr. Hosker needs a good editor. One of my favorite needs-an-editor examples in this book was, "I am a hard man to kill. Many have tried and few have succeeded."

Historia
Will Strongstaff has achieved far more than he ever thought. He is a gentleman. He has land, a wife and children. Yet he is still a warrior. He still has an oath to honour. King Richard is now under the sway of the evil Earl of Oxford Robert de Vere. When the king’s cousin, Henry Bolingbroke, sends for Will to fight in Galicia for his father, John of Gaunt, then Will has to return to the world in which he grew up, the world of the hired sword. This time he not only has enemies on the battlefield but enemies closer to hand as murderers try to end the life of his new lord.

and again . . .
Revisado: 06-11-20
This was a good story that held my interest. I have reviewed other books in this series with these same comments. This was a good story that held my interest; BUT, Mr. Hosker was in sore need of a good editor. For example, in the previous book Lord Armistead was going on pilgrimage to the Holy Land in honor of his dead wife. In this book Lady Armistead was alive. The Lord and Lady had a teenaged grandson so, based on the fact that our hero's son aged about 5 years between the previous book and this book, the Lord and Lady had been married much longer than the time between the pilgrimage and this book, i.e., this was not a second wife. This was not the only hiccup.
