Historia
I'm determined to turn Quirky Kingdom into the showpiece it used to be. Problem is—more than just the rides need fixing. It's way more than I can handle on my own. I tap my new neighbor to help—Rexin, a hunky orc handyman who's also a single dad extraordinaire. Since it's summer, he brings his twelve-year-old son to the job with him.

Sweet with no depth
Revisado: 10-22-24
This story is just okay. It’s a niche genre with overly fast matches, sticky sweet story lines and abruptly quick resolutions, this is great for quick consumption with a steamy zing and a happy ending. It is a sweet, stereotypical story with little to no depth. It’s not for everyone and it did not make me want to pick up the rest of the series, but it’s okay in a pinch to fill a couple of hours.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 10-11-23
Having grown up myself in the Deep South in a small town that could be the twin of many of the small southern towns written about in cute little cozy mysteries like this one, I was prepared for a another syrupy sweet softening of the pride, generational bigotry, and “proper” facades that seem to make all these little towns in “Southern” books such an interesting, good, but mildly troubled place to live, as though all that Dixie heritage, racism, and matriarchy enforced patriarchy is just quirky rather than harmful. I’m used to it. Again, having lived it, I am the first one to defend my home town despite knowing how toxic these kinds of places can be if that kind of thinking is left unchecked.
That is not this book.
However, this is also not one of those books that goes the opposite way, crying to the rafters about all the racist, awful, fake people and demonizing what are often genuinely good people despite their unintentionally misguided beliefs. Making an entire set of people defensive by tactless, rude, bashing behavior does no one any good either.
No, what you get with this series, that in fact grows more obvious with each new installment, is someone who calls a spade a spade but also gives credit where credit is due. It’s okay to call out the way small town politics, slavish devotion to a tainted heritage and pride can ruin good people, while still point out that good manners, kindness and caring about history and your neighbors are still a fine thing. This is a fine line to walk and this series does it well and with humor.
The story drags a little in just a few places but the narrator does an amazing job of keeping you interested in those moments. Suspension of belief is often a must with this book series as the author has a tendency throughout the series to push the limits of plausibility even in a paranormal situation, but still, this was a thoroughly enjoyable pleasant surprise of a find and I would recommend the series to anyone who just wants to come away with a smile.

Murphy Umanski, personal assistant and sister to Nova LaRue, the beautiful, popular Instagram influencer, has her hands full keeping her client in check. Nova has a big following, a big mouth, and, because of it, she has even a bigger problem. After posting an anonymous and inflammatory comment on a rival's Instagram page, someone turns her into a troll - and not the cute little troll doll so popularly used as a good luck charm in a rollicking game of bingo. No, in fact, Nova looks like something that lives in a hole carved out in a tree in a haunted forest.

Delightful

I have enjoyed most of the books in this series, some more than others. This one, however, just tickled me *pink*. One of my top five.

My name's Sebastian Black, and I want to buy you. I could have any woman I want, but I choose you. No relationship, just sex. Here's my offer...I'll put your name in my little black book, and when I want you, I'll call you. When I call, you're going to come, in more ways than one. It will be mutually pleasurable for both of us. There are only two rules: don't ever deny me. Don't fall in love. If you do either, I'll remove you from my book and payment stops. Do we have an understanding?

Take it or leave it
Revisado: 05-06-19
I did not hate this book, but I couldn’t love it. The plot is sexy but extremely predictable. A book has to be spectacularly bad for me to pull a DNF. That being said, this one nearly hit that point. There are some super cringe worthy moments between the main couple *spoiler* like when he uses a gun to get her off. However, if you are okay with the asshole “billionaire bad boy who finds a perfect little virgin dream girl who intends to treat like a high priced sex toy and winds up falling in love with her” trope, this one will check all your boxes. All that said, it’s still better than 50 Shades of Grey.

Story yes, production no
Revisado: 04-26-19
I am just repeating what other have said. This story was amazing, but, due to the way the audiobook is produced, it is very confusing and jolting when the first person narrative jumps to a new point of view with no warning. The voices and accents do. Or change enough to be obvious. This was not enough of a complaint to keep me from finishing the book. I loved every bit of it!

Cute but Cheesy
Revisado: 11-10-18
I could not listen to this narrator. Her accents were awful. The story is cute but UBER predictable and cheesy. It’s a fluff piece, but not bad for a few hours distraction.
