Historia
This superb collection of larger-than-life folk heroes aptly represents America's robust early days, perfectly capturing the vitality of the men and women who carved a new country out of the North American wilderness. Author Mary Pope Osborne supplies a fascinating introduction to each tale and then gives her own original twist to the telling of it.

I loved this abook, you can't go wrong with these classic tales and the reading performance is exceptional!
The author even manages to fit in a short description of the origin (or probable origin, at that) of each of these tales.
Well worth picking up!

Historia
Citizen of the Galaxy takes place far in the future, when the human race has spread out to colonize other planets. In a slave market in the capital of Jubbul and the Nine Worlds, an auctioneer announces, "Lot 97. A boy." Slavery is commonplace in Jubbul, and the sight of the ragged, starving boy, Thorby, on the auction block is not unusual. What does puzzle bystanders and Thorby himself is his purchase by crippled Baslim, the beggar who sits every day in a corner of the marketplace.

Classic Heinlein-light
Revisado: 12-30-06
This is a great read, very light and pleasant, just keeps on going so it's hard to put down. Unlike most of his books this one isn't very preachy, he didn't even go into details about how light speed travel would affect time. If you like this one (I know this might sound wierd, but it really isn't) try "To The Stars" by Hubbard.

yuck!
Revisado: 12-06-06
Do not download this unless you have a tremendous tolerance for gay sex scenes. (Sorry, it's beyond what I want to know about) I honestly recommend that you instead get "possible side effects" if you are new to A.Boroughs. It is a little smoother and gives fewer details (such as his psychiatrist’s fascination with his own feces).

Historia
Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

Lenny Henry does a fantastic job of narrating this book! Even Stephen Briggs (diskworld series) will have a hard time topping this work of art!

The narration is excellent, the book is fantastic! The audio quality is pretty good too. Oh, and watch the movie too. Unlike many audio books you only care to hear once, you can listen to this one over and over and not get tired of it. Very uplifting!

Historia
There has never been another writer quite like Douglas Adams; witty, funny and brilliantly eloquent on a gargantuan number of topics. The Salmon of Doubt brims with the Adams trademarks: thought-provoking, silly and insanely original writings in an all-new never-before-published collection. For the millions of readers who expressed their grief and shock at his untimely death, this is it: his final book and our last chance to see new work from an acknowledged comic genius of our time.

Not a book, more like loose thoughts. Funny!
Revisado: 08-23-04
As I said, this is not a book. It's mostly a collection of Douglas Adams random thoughts about day to day life, gripes about technology etc. For me, the most important part was finding a lot of the inner thoughts that gave me a better idea of how his warped mind worked to come up with all the strange fictions we love so much. There are also lots of people talking about how they knew him, but in a not-boring way. Some ideas for future books that unfortunately we won't get to see more than these glimpses of.
Get it, It's worth it. It will give you a better understanding of what he was thinking all that time, plus it's really funny :)
Audio quality is good too.

Just not funny.
Revisado: 03-18-04
While not really funny and not really useful, the book does indeed provide step by step instructions on how to do things that every secret agent needs to know, such as: how to land a space shuttle, survive a sinking ship, get hit with random furniture or smash through plate glass windows and live, all the way to contacting aliens and making love potions to name a few. Step by step instructions get old very fast though.
Although not necessary for most of what the book covers we still miss out a little by not having the illustrations for some of the more advanced moves, such as advanced fighter plane flying tactics or where exactly should one apply a certain medical procedure. It can also be near impossible to imagine the many movements of say, performing a kung fu grip on your opponent, if you are listening to this tape while driving. Thankfully the book is clearly and well read, though for the most part read like one might read a checklist (which the book pretty much is).
Well, the book delivers what it promises in a way, but it was not funny.
