Historia
Screenwriter Harada is disconnected from the world. Lonely and jaded, he’s drifted apart from his son and is dismissive when approached with gestures of friendship, including from a lonely and mysterious tenant who lives in his mostly empty apartment building. One night, when Harada returns to the dilapidated downtown district of Tokyo where he grew up, he meets a man who looks exactly like his long-dead father. And so begins Harada’s ordeal, thrust into a reality where his parents appear to be alive at the exact age they had been when they died many years earlier.

I enjoyed the plot, but there wasn’t much of an emotional connection that I could make with any of the characters. I had heard so much about the heartfelt movie that I expected it from the book. I didn’t get it except in small size bites

Historia
As Sheriff Clayton Burroughs tries to juggle fatherhood, his job, and his recovery from being shot in the confrontation that killed his two criminally inclined brothers last year, he’s doing all he can just to survive. Yet after years of carefully toeing the line between his life in law enforcement and his family, he finally has to make a choice. When a rival organization makes a first foray into Burroughs' territory, leaving a trail of bodies and a whiff of fear in its wake, Clayton is pulled back into the life he so desperately wants to leave behind.

Easy and Enjoyable
Revisado: 06-08-24
Clayton’s decisions tend to not add up with the brain power this author gives him. However, this book is an easy and enjoyable read. I think panowich expects the readers to have already ready Bull Mountain. If you haven’t read Bull mountain then the lack of character development will be a problem. Overall enjoyable, but very rushed.

Really great dialogue and very elegant. Unfortunately I did not like any of the characters. Maybe they were too real? The book does a great job of illustrating that life goes on.

Fried Green Tomatoes
Revisado: 05-11-24
If you’ve seen fried green tomatoes then you’ve seen this. Desperate attempt at creating a strong female character who stumbles across hardships while watching them bloom into successes. Forrest Gump part 2, except she’s smart.

Interesting but Bland
Revisado: 05-22-23
Monotonous, but very informative. The performer has a clear and calming voice, but lacks emotion. The story is interesting, but not much really happens that would inspire. Still an interesting fact/textbook on life in the then unknown part of the world.
